and if he really takes over as our Def coordinator are we about to see another switch?

How do you all think this would affect our current personnel?

No, I'm certain that Jerry does not want to switch back to the 3-4.

I think it will be interesting. If he's a 3-4 guy and believes he can get a better pass rush from guys like Spencer and Lawrence in a 3-4 scheme, what would stop him?

If that's what he prefers and you're hiring him as your Def coordinator wouldn't you be setting him up for failure if you dictate his scheme?

Wouldn't mind working in elements of it to force teams to prepare for and give different looks against diff. offensive sets..........dictate if possible.

1. I think Marinelli will return. Tampa has not fired their DC.

2. If Marinelli does leave, I'm skeptical that Eberflus will get the job.

3. If Eberflus was the DC, he might run some 3-4 concepts as a package, but I'm fairly certain based on comments by Jerry that they will not switch back to the 3-4 as the base defense. The only thing they have to do in order to use more 3-4 concepts while still be in this 4-3 defense is to get a SLB that is a quality pass rusher. That's what they do in Denver with Von Miller. Miller is the SLB on base downs and moves to DE in the Nickel. The SLB is the LB that is normally removed from the field when they go to the Nickel defense. On base downs when Miller is the SLB, they will at times have the DE on the opposite side hold up his rush or drop into a shallow zone while Miller rushes. That's basically a 3-4 at that point. There are some pass rusher in this draft that would be interesting at that Von Miller type position.

I want a coach who has significant X and O experience running a 4-3 defense...

Eberflus isn't that guy.

We don't have time for Eberflus to learn the ropes of being an NFL coordinator...

Get someone who we know can put together an elite defense.

Nope, stay base as 4-3, but have to be situations and Off Sets that could throw 3-4 looks at......OLine not knowing who is coming for sure as we struggle with rush,

He has been coaching in the 4-3 for the last 2 years. If he does not want to run the 4-3 then Dallas will need to find someone who can.

I like the idea of someone experienced with 4-3 but I want someone aggressive. Dick jauron is a bit too passive

go outside the organization for the love of god, do it. No one from teh staff should be promoted. If they do a good job, LEAVE THEM THERE.

We don't have the nosetackle for it. I could see Crawford being a very good 3-4 DE but the personnel at the important parts (Nose and Pass Rushers) isn't there.

I'm pretty close to saying during this era 3-4 vs 4-3 doesn't matter as much. What does your nickle set look like? How inventive is the coordinator in working out of it? A lot of teams are using 3 WR as their base offense currently.
