Is Ferguson even a jag?

The tape is pretty bad

Yup. That's the main issue with him not his receiving. I think if he had the opportunity receiving he'd be the same 10 ypc guy he was in 2023. But he blocked better when he actually wasn't a diva

His blocking has generally been viewed as functional but inconsistent. We already knew that. His 8.1 yards per catch this year tells you exactly what his role has been. It's a short/intermediate, chain-moving routes rather than stretching the defense vertically. That's what the Cowboys ask of him and he plays that role well.
People just refuse to understand this. The guy does what they ask of him.

The Jerry lists are going to be interesting when it finally over.

-The HOFers that never saw a NFC CG.
-The number of people extended early that were awful thereafter.
-Guys that were absolutely cooked but stole a last pay day.

Do they ask him to fumble all the time too?
Maybe. Shotty told Dak not to throw to an open Pickens to win the game last week. What they do ask Fergeson to do, same as Witten. Run a couple yards and sit down, wait for the ball. Yall want everyone going long. He is their dump off in case of emergency, not their #1 target.

Thanks for sharing these.

Fergy puts in some shockingly bad effort in those last two clips, but I think #1 is the reason why. Ferguson's got zero power left in his legs. He comes in with a running start at Clowney, gets low, and Clowney still throws him aside like he's stuffing a freshman into a locker.

Fergy knows that if he takes these guys on square, he's probably going to get blown up. Easier to try and reach-block a guy, or release a little earlier into his route...

It’s the lack of effort that drives me crazy. Like he isn’t even interested in blocking at all.

Let BSF take his snaps until he decides he wants to actually do his damn job.

He loves the “pound my chest” “look at me I got a first down” moments… but he undoes any of his positive moments by refusing to do any dirty work that his role requires.

And his blocking has most definitely regressed from his early years. Instead of maturing into a competent technician, he just doesn’t even try.

In a word— it’s pathetic. And our “HOF” GM rewarded him with a big contract.

None of em are cutting it.

BSF needs to start and get the majority of the reps

At this point, he’s a much better all-around player. Much better blocker has good hands has a little wiggle after he catches the ball and is extremely physical.

I’d punt Fumbleson

After the 2023 season it looked like he may be on the verge of breaking out but it just hasn't materialized into the top tier TE we had hoped he could be. At this point I think he's a solid TE, probably a middle of the road top 12-15 type starting TE. Does most things well, solid pass catcher, good red zone target, but not a game breaker or high end blocker. Probably similiar in talent level to the guy he replaced Dalton Schultz.

As fans we often have unrealistic expectations for certain players and as soon as someone gets paid and they don't perform like an all-pro we start thinking they're trash. We really got spoiled with a decade + of Jason Witten, who did everything extremly well and is one of the best blocking TEs in history. Yet, he was also criticized for being slow and not being a deep threat to stretch the field in his 30s.
