Flo is gonna be 31 next year, recovering from a bad acl tear at such an old age, and being such a big guy, i gotta think in the back of my mind, he may never be back to the flozell i knew and loved. Is there any kind of precedent for this situation? We may have to end up drafting an LT or drafting an RT and move Pettitti to LT which was his real position. If we get a starting LT in the draft we MAY have to even cut flozell just so he isnt a huge cap burden for the future. he is signed for the 2007 season as his last right?

I hope Flo can return...he is a good OT. That said...this years draft is very deep with top LT's...this will have to be the year to do it.

Last year all D...this year Oline. I think we need a top LT, and a OG as well. LA is getting towards the end and has lost to much mobility. Rivera is solid, but not special...

I always thought Adams should have been a RT. He has the power to play it. He can hear from his left ear but is impared from the right. In the NFC East, you have some pass rushers at LDE. I like him much better at RT. Always have.

Even before Flozell's injury I was hoping the Cowboys would spend big on offensive linemen in the draft his year. They are in serious need of promising young depth on that line. The only exceptions I would make are if a promising young franchise QB, WR or LB drops to them in the first or second since the Cowboys need those positions for the same reasons.

great point, in looking at mocks I noticed there are like 6+ good first round possible offensive tackles coming out this year. even if we pick in the mid 20's we should be able to get one of them. This is THE year to do it with Flo going down and so many good options. I am very nervous about Flo ever being the same.

I agree, but I don't think we draft QB this year with Bledsoe at 33, unless Leinhart falls to 32...;)

I think you hit it...we need promising youth...we only have Peterman with mixed reviews. Petitti is here to stay...this kid is doing well this year, wait until he has an off-season of weight lifting and knows the playbook inside and out...he's our steal!

We really need a top LT, and promising OG to replace LA...one of the reason's i'd LOVE to get Fonoti on the cheap, then we could focus on LT.

any idea what the chargers were asking? it cant be much. I would easily give up a 2nd day pick for this beast of a human being. especially with two aging guards and no good backups on the team. Would put a huge smile on my face, and imo if he starts would be a big boost to jj's season.

anyone know of any precedents of this same situation? A good LT who at 31 is possibly too old to ever really recover .I want to know how likely it is that flo ever gets back to normal, or if hes gonna be a gimp.

I imagine if he loses any lateral burst, we can always move him inside. (See Larry Allen) Maybe Flozell can become the future replacement for Allen or Rivera if their 35 year old bodies can't hold up much longer. Just a thought.

I dunno I dont think flozell would be a good guard. imo he can play only LT or RT. if that means moving Petitti to LT and making him our future starter, and Flozell to RT then that is a possibility.

Adams is 6'7, there havent been many 6'7 guards in this league...there's a few exceptions, but it seems unlikely to me that being so tall would make it easier for interior DL's to get leverage on him

wouldnt surprise me if he comes back 100% and we move him to RT

I read a few post of a 4th, and then later a 5th...so not sure. I'd throw a 5th and run...tell me a OG that we can draft in the 5th that would have this type of upside???

Isn't Ray Brown close to six-seven? Alan Faneca too? You're probably right, he would have a hard time getting used to it. Pittdawg wrote in his thread that he thought Flozell was lazy on technique and if true, that would him killed with the height on the interior line. I hope he makes it back okay.

Hmm good point, although i am very unsure about hte 100% part. I think he returns but just not as quick, and therefore could be forced to move to RT where he could finish out his career. maybe we start grooming Rob as our future starting LT? gonna be a tough situation but i trust parcells to make the right decision.
