Is Flozell that good or is Justice that bad?

After watching Osi Umenyiora wipe his butt with Winston Justice I thought 'Wow, Flo must be pretty good to have contained him all game'. Then I thought 'Well, maybe Justice just sucks'.

So which would you say? Little of both?

Flo is a good tackle. He gets sloppy at time but for the most part the guy is good. Justice on the other hand was getting his butt kicked every which way you could imagine be it the bull rush or the speed rush he was getting slapped around like a step child.

Justice is that bad. Didn't Osi get hurt in the first quarter of the game against us?

To be fair, this was Justice's first start in the NFL and he was going up against one of the better pass rushers in the league.

Reid's inexplicable decision to let him go one-on-one was idiotic to say the least. The only thing I can think of is that Reid wanted to punish Donovan McNabb for some reason because he nearly got him killed out there.

Reid was giving him help but the help did a poor job. Parcells was breaking down the film yesterday and was showing where the gaurd was suppose to provide the help to the inside. Many times you had only 2 defenders going up aginst 3 offensive lineman for the eagles but the gaurd continue to react late.

Justice is young and inexperienced. Although, I don't think he will ever be that good even with more time. I was strongly opposed to the Cowboys drafting him.

I think Flo's ability is underrated.

However, I was reading PFT and apparently there's some thought that Justice was left alone, because of Strahan's usual dominance against Jon Runyun. Apparently, Runyun got most of the help from the TEs and RBs.

Should have put the TE out there; or have a back chipping him. Having the guard was not a help since Osi was pretty much always going for the outside move. If its true they were helping out Runyon then they were even dumber then I thought they were.

Umeniora went out in the first half of our game too, so Flo didn't have to go at him the whole game.

Justice should have led him to the outside with the gaurd protecting the inside move. In the WCO you are not going to keep a lot of people back to help with the blocking.

Justice was just that bad. Torrin Tucker bad. Soloman Page bad.

It was pathetic.

And to think of all the people saying how stupid we were for not drafting this workout wonder. I honestly think Doug Free would do better than that if you threw him out there tomorrow.

For all his issues, Flo cannot be bull rushed. He has problems when he doesn't move his feet and he extends his arms out to his sides, mush like a bird's wingspan, and holds get called.

He can handle Osi by pushing him inside to Davis, where there will be a logjam. Neither Osi nor Straham worry me as much as they did whe we had Petteti out there and an injured Flo on the other side. Tony will get some pressure, but he ain't McNabb (still doesn't have his feet back ) either.

I agree. Justice may have done a bad job but McNabb does not look as fleet of foot as he has been in the past. McNabb strong suite has been the fact he could buy time and make plays with his legs and right now he looks slow and can't escape very well.

Flozell is a solid blocking tackle. The problem is that he gets criticized because he's so big and he has athleticism that people think he should dominate. So when he doesn't, they think he's underperforming. It's much like somebody think Yao Ming should pour in 30+ points and 20+ rebounds a night. So when he goes something like 22 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks it's kind poo-pooed upon. Now, I'm not saying that Flozell is the equivalent of being that good, but because he's solid and not dominate and he has a penalty problem, people think he sucks.

OTOH, Justice was awful. Umenyiora wasn't really exploding by him and he wasn't even coming close. He looked slow and his technique looked terrible.

Yes-Justice should have gotten alot more help, and he doesn't have much experience.

But I've NEVER seen anyone look THIS bad, frankly. When Flo went down, and no longer we could give Pettiti help b/c we had to help Tucker-Pettiti DIDN'T look this bad.

No matter what the mediots, err....draft pundits say how "great of a prospect such and such guy is" like this Justice guy, it was NO fluke he fell to the second round.

Petitti was NEVER as bad as Justice looked - and he looked pretty sad on occasion. But to give him his due- Pettiti never quit and gave it all on every play. I don't think Justice did that.

Actually, Petitti did look that bad. Didn't have to quit in order to still be abused.

It's just that when they play for your team, you root for them to overcome their struggles.

No actually Petitti never looked that bad. The most sacks he ever gave up in a game was 2.5 and that was to Strahan & Peppers. He also gave up ZERO sacks in 8 of the games that season, something the haters seem to overlook. For a late round rookie he didn't play that badly. He was also protecting an immobile QB.

One more thing on Justice, the other OLs gave up 6 sacks as well so it wasn't simply a horrible performance by him. Runyan had help and still gave up a bunch of sacks and he is a 12-year veteran.
