Is Golden worth our pick at #12?

not sure if we talked about this (memory is bad) do you feel the same way about the OL we've used a lot of resources on the OL over the last few years for us to take another 1st round pick on OL
Good point, but at 12 noticed I said the cleanest pick........it's no secret the longevity of OLine is far greater than DL. In other words, drafting Will Campbell or Membou gives you potentially two All-Pros ( Tyler ) over the next 7-8 years or put another way, locks down two of your OLine positions for years.

Clean mock.......three likely starters

12. Dallas Cowboys: TE Tyler Warren, Penn State

Dallas is in need of playmakers all over the offense, and here they have a choice between Matthew Golden and Tyler Warren. While they would be well served to nab either, Warren is a unique playmaker who would unlock this offense. With Jake Ferguson on the roster — and in a contract year — Dallas can become a more versatile offense after running one of the lowest rates of 12 personnel (10.8%) in 2024, due in part to a lack of talent at the position.

I woke up came to work, had my coffee, and now i'm stressed!!!!!!! Lol, totally agree with this man! My only fear with this is, they're going to stress how they've got Hoffman/Jones/Charles to battle for a spot at RG which is what we need most right now. That's my real reasoning as to why we'd probably stay away from it. I could see us later in the draft maybe taking a OT that has "position flex" (I hate that phrase) and him backing up either tackle or playing guard if needed for some reason

he would be the borderline pick in the in between sweepstakes of this draft! Jenty vs T-mac/Golden, Warren would be the only option i'd probably be ok with, but not really. Too high for a TE for me

NO. But it would be such a Jerry move, which is why this roster has so many holes and has a defense that can't stop anyone.

I like Golden but no.

Would rather have Harris, Williams, Burden (fingers crossed) in round 2 than Golden at 12.

The Cowboys can't stop the run. They haven't in years.

Also, did you see what a good DL just did to the Chiefs in the super bowl?
I agree but it seems to me the problem is more systemic than continuing to overload the unit. The Eagles don't have nearly as much invested in their D-Line. For example;
*** Jalen Carter and Smith are tops. Jordan Davis was a 1st rounder but word is they are not sure about picking up his 5th year option
*** Two of the league's best LBers in Baun and Dean
*** Two rookie secondary players turned ALL-PRO performances ( this draft near the bottom of the rounds )
*** The best defensive coordinator in the league ( Fingio )

But we are still adding Dlinemen ..........all I'm saying is it seems, for what ever reason, we are NOT getting the most/best from this unit that's overloaded with resources. Make some of the pieces you have work or get rid of them.

Hoffman isn't a bad player, but what's his ceiling? I'm OK giving him this year. My point in the previous post had more to do with Campbell or Membou dropping to 12, and we are forced to pick, no trade is avail. IMO either of these players offers more value with less risk. On other hand, there is a chance both players at 12 would be the BPA

Preach my brother!

People keep saying “invest in the trenches!” When they have 3 day 1/2 picks on OL and 5 day 1/2 picks on DL! Out of 9 starters 7 are day 1/2 picks. Steele and Hoffman are the exceptions

You seem infatuated by the resources spent for DL. It doesn't matter. Either you can stop the run or you can't. The Cowboys can't. That doesn't get better by not drafting DL's.

If the consensus is the talent is there but they are not performing, that is a coaching issue. That's simply not the case in Dallas. They are lacking in talent. Especially at DT. That statement has been true for years.

I am infatuated with it, can't you tell? (LOL).........but this team has had issues stopping the run for over 15 years. What make you guys think adding an additional player to the DLine will change that? You mentioned how the Eagles' D shut down Mahomes and the Chiefs but as pointed out, their Dline was just part of that. They had playmakers at literally every position AND the best DC.

Who's the better pick, yeah now it's time for me to stress you out lol, Campbell or Membou????

T-mac/Jenty are gone, are we really going to turn our card in for Golden??? I hope the phones get to ringing a bit, I think we can nab him a little later in the draft??? Please give your thoughts. Most seem to feel that he's the next option we could look at at WR if T-mac isn't there
In this draft he would be. The players we will have available to us at 12 this year wouldn't make the top 15 most years. Doesnt make them bad players, just means you aren't going to get the value from that slot you would have in other years

Carr's season is now in jeopardy with shoulder issues. So Dart or Sanders most likely will be picked at 9. That will give us another player to chose from.
