It's often said that playing defense is much harder than offense, and I wonder if the same applies to the coordinators.
It makes for a good argument. But I’ll stick with the offensive coordinatorThe other reason I would say defensive coordinator is tougher is because to me on offense you can scheme guys open in the run and especially the Pass. And if your QB is top 5-10 he'll have answer(s) to the test before the ball is snapped. There are more of those available on Offense for an OC than you have Luke Kuechly's for a DC on Defense to combat that.
Bout the same, if talent is equal, I would say Offense is harder.....I was both during my career and switching defensive scheme to fit your opponent is a lot easier than switching your offensive scheme with 3 days of practice. It's a chess match, I'd get my coordinators on the board and watch them go at it. One would say, I'm gonna do this and the other would say, well then I'm gonna a do this....then the other would say, if you do that, I'll do this.....it went on and on! Good old days....It's often said that playing defense is much harder than offense, and I wonder if the same applies to the coordinators.
