It's not a great year to need/want a sure-thing defensive star or as Jerry likes to say, a "War Daddy"

2016 - Joey Bosa, 3rd overall & Jalen Ramsey, 5th overall
2017 - Myles Garrett, 1st overall & Jamal Adams, 6th overall
2018 - Denzel Ward, 4th & Bradley Chubb, 5th overall
2019 - Nick Bosa, 2nd overall
2020 - Chase Young, 2nd overall

Projected guys this year are:
Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
Gregory Rousseau, Edge, Penn State (huge projection pick)
Patrick Surtain, Jr., Corner, Alabama
Caleb Farley, Corner, Virginia Tech (love, love. love him but also a bit of a projection)

I also think our ceiling is 4 (Jets 1, Jaguars 2, Bengals without Burrow 3). We'd have to hope for Penei Sewell or a Zack Wilson bidding war and a slight move down. I think when it's all said and done, and after we beat Cincinnati, we'll be drafting in the 9th to 11th range, which probably puts outside of Surtain and Farley. At that point, we might be looking at:

Kwity Paye, Edge, Michigan

Jaycee Horn, Corner, South Carolina

Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah, Linebacker, Notre Dame

And I know we desperately need to invest resources into the defense, but if we miss out on Sewell, Farley, and Surtain, and we can't get great value in a trade down, I'd have an extremely hard time passing on Florida Tight End Kyle Pitts. He's a problem.

There is talent in there. Not as many DTs and O- Line after Sewell drops. There will be a couple of surprise players that their stocks will jump up.....It looks even worse if Trevor Lawrence decides to stay in school
