Is it me or is Parcells contradicting himself?

4-3 guys give it up. We ran the majority of camp in a 3-4. Drafted 3-4 guys. Its 3-4.

Still onboard with the 3-4?
Oh I’m with it. Its just a matter of what you do when someone gets hurt. I don’t know the percentages, but that will be our lead defense and we’ll sprinkle in some 4 man lines. No second thoughts there. And the 4 man fronts we are using are using 3 man front principles at every postion except for 1 guy. We keep 1 guy different, and 10 other the same.

He thrives on coachspeak or in this case, Tunaspeak. And I don't care that he does. He's only doing what just about any coach would. They can't throw every little bone to us or the media. I'm sure they have excellent reasons for doing so

Of course there's contradiction and inconsistency. He's an NFL head coach. Just don't get cross when we call BS on it. Not all of us are going to take the company line and run without examining it more thoroughly.

And? What does that mean?

Depends on my QB situation (or something to that affect).

And another thing ... how do you always manage to eloquently say, what I clumsily attempt to say? It's like twighlight zone :)

Because shes Tunas wife.

Now back to the question.... If it depended on the QB situation, Im assuming he doesnt expect to win here anytime soon. I mean afterall we've endured a wasted year with Carter, even more of a wasted year with Vinny T and we're about to embark on another grueling adventure with Bledsoe.

This must be another contradiction

Speaking of sound bytes, ESPN on Monday night replayed a pretty famous one.

Because it indicated just how much he really does value good QB play.
I'll answer my own question, tho SB nailed it and mailed it.

Tuna's reply to how soon he could win in Dallas was: "it all depends on how long it takes to get a QB".

He didn't say "as soon as I get a bus driver", or "as soon as I can build a better bus"; he gave an answer befitting a head coach who may deplore 'celebrity quarterbacks" but has relied on first rounders, former Heisman winners, and Hall of Famers. Bill Parcells has ALWAYS valued top quality QB play.

Winning depends on getting a quarterback.

He didn't say draft, didn't say trade for, didn't say sign as a free agent, didn't say develop..said "get", which means to acquire by any means necessary.

You don't win, you woin't win til you "get" a QB.

This is the first year here Bill seems to think he has "got" a QB. In 03, Tuna was hog-tied by Jerry's boys who he had to evaluate, in camp 04 he was blindsided by the one he chose to develop, and forced to rely on his old vet backup.

But this year he thinks he has got his QB.

Drew Bledsoe.

We shall see...but Bill has everything riding on Drew Bledsoe, from giving his new defensive scheme time to gel to giving Henson and Romo time to develop to perhaps even writing his final chapter as a HC.

Is it against the law to contradict yourself? If so, why is this board so busy everyday? Are computers as accessible in jail as it is on my job?

Is it a contradiction to say one thing, acquire more information and change your assessment of a given situation?

Is it a contradiction when someone hears one thing and the speaker said somethiing different?

What about if a person is trying not to reveal his hand but must answer the same questions every day and the answers come out different because you're doing your best to be cordial and do your job at the same time?

So many questions, so few acceptable answers.

I miss your avatar ... lol

you're spot on.

Parcells also quickly admits it when he makes a mistake. Rogers...didnt pan out, he's gone. thats it.

I think Bledsoe will be alot better than people think. I don't see how people really think he just lost the ability he once had. He feels comfortable with BP, and should do well for him. Look at TG, he wasnt doing much, and last year he was on pace to put up a great season..til he got hurt.

I would imagine Parcells contridicts himself alot. One of his famous quotes, "I'm not concerned about being consistent, I'm concerned about being right."

Last I checked, he was no binary creature.

I'm with you on this one, Nors. Right there.

But this is going to be primarily our starting D against most teams but likely not all.

And we will switch things up as we substitute, downs change, opponents change, the opponent changes things during the game, our matchups aren't working, we have injuries, they have injuries, yada yada yada.

We are not going to play one simple defense all game long.

If your definition we are a 3-4 team hinges on the fact that we will try to play a 3-4 with primarily Ware then substitues as a hybrid then I agree we are a 3-4 team.

But we will play multiple fronts and schemes as I've said before and more importantly Bill has said all year. And has done all his HCing career.

It is not a simple answer. You have to read the entire Bible and not quote out of context.

Some of you all got it all wrong. His job is not to tell you/opposing coaches/media anything. He is a coach; his best defense is to mix in the truth with just enough lies, it is called keeping opponents off balance.

Above all else, the Tuna will go with whom he thinks gives him the best chance to win. Good, bad, or indifferent that is why he makes the big bucks. Fan sentiment is last on his list and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

BP stated best himself. he is worried about being consistent, he's worried about being right. A Qb can take a break by simply handing the ball off. A defensive player can't take a play off. So, by changing defense and giving Glover and others a chance to stay fresh isn't quite contradicting himself.

Parcells is obviously in his "win-now" mode with signing Bledsoe. He won't take the time to develop one of our young QBs (Henson/Romo), but he will switch our base defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4 with LOTS of inexperienced linebackers!! it's impossible to totally gel the first year when you switch your base defense...we gotta have our best players on the field, and i would rather have glover on the field instead of keith o'neil or scott shanle

Who says he can't contradict himself. To paraphrase him:

He's not interested in being consistent, he's interested in being right.
