Is it OK if draft doesn't help us this year?

How good can this team be if we went into the season with the current roster? I could see this happening if a WR is selected in round 1 and an OL in round 2. Sure, a great player could emerge, but there is also a good chance that the current roster of players will make 99% of the plays.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but how far will this team be expected to go based on FA signings alone?

I'd say there is a greater chance of not having a rookie start day one than having one starting.

And I'm fine with that.

I think there is a good chance our #1 may not be a starter this season but I do expect that player to contribute this season

we are going to need pass rush help from the draft and possibly nickel corner help from the draft. We have to replace kenyon colemans snaps somehow also.

So I will say this, I think it needs to help us, but if we can get one or two young lineman or possibly a young wr and qb who wont contribute much that is ok. THey take time to develop so it will be good for the future.

I will also add this. Jerry Jones has been adamant that Our first day picks and free agent signings will only be guys who step right in and play. So take that for what its worth...

This is a ringer.

I think there is a difference between starting as a rookie and coming in and contributing on special teams, situational snaps and generally providing good practice and compatition to the vets. Some of the most valuable players on any team are the ones that push good players to be better. These things, I expect out of evey draft.

Good point Dooms.

I would say it is very important for our rookies to have an impact. Certainly you go for the future, but take a look at the Super Bowl teams. The Bears had big impact guys like Anderson and Hester, with contributions from Dvorchek and Manning. The Colts had high impact from Addai and contributions from Bethea.

You need those jolts of youth that the draft offers. The FA class was fine, but there is still alot of work to do.

Really good teams do not find first year starters in the draft when they are picking at the end of the rounds .....

We can get future starters but if a rookie chosen at the end of the first round starts on your team you have some positional problems.

and the only place I can see that happening on our team is oline ..... and even that would be hard for a rook to accomplish.

If our rookie class comes in and pushes the starters already penciled in then that's even better...
