is it possible to both like what we've done so far in the draft on the 1st day, yet still be underwhelmed by it? am I the only one who feels this way? don't get me wrong, I think Spencer is going to be a heck of an asset as soon as his rookie year, and Marten will be a player once he fills out his frame, it's just they weren't at the top of my list in either round that they were chosen in

so who is both satisfied and underwhelmed besides myself?

I can't say I'm underwelmed. I think it's a solid first day. But I can see your point of view. We didn't get a guy everyone wanted like Ware was or Newman was or Roy Williams was in recent years. But we got a guy that is really solid, looks to fit the system. And fills a need. And we added depth to the OL. And we get a first round pick(most likely a top 10 pick) next year to fill any need we have in 08.

I know that exact feeling.
I really love the Spencer pick.
But...it's hard to explain.

yeah its a good point.

However how do you think new england fans feel? of course it looks like they are getting randy moss tommorrow for a 5th but still, they barely picked today either , they did essentially what we did.

I love the spencer pick. We now have three boilermakers on this team.

I think we got a wow player.

I don't think Spencer is going to be a Ware type player....but I think Spencer is going to be someone we are going to be thrilled to have.

As for the OT, meh. Never saw him play so I cannot say anything. Hopefully he turns out well for us. We could use the depth at OT. Him and McQ hopefully can develop nicely.

I know exactly what you mean... but that's why I'm so happy we made the trades.

Outside of a few players at the top of the draft, I was really underwhelmed with a lot of the "First Round" players. So if there's no one there you're really in love with, might as well trade down and add a pick that could really bring in someone special last year.

I was more underwhelmed with last years draft on the 1st day.I'm very happy with what they did today.I'm also happy that they didn't reach for anyone, mainly at 53,and traded down to secure more picks.
