Is it possible to drink yourself sober?

It's possible to drink to the point where you experience withdrawals after a day and a half of drinking and being sober for a week and a half prior. And it's no bueno.

I posted this elsewhere, I saw a documentary of a fellow that got the shakes while still blowing a .4 and change. Crazy

Are you trying to scare me into sobriety? That sounds insane.... DT's suck, no matter when they come, but to get them while being drunk? I need to re-evaluate my drinking habits... LOL

Hmmmmm.... Dealing with drunken moments of clarity vs being hit by a van (the shoe)..... Sorry if I can drink enough water afterwords, maybe the headache is less with the booze......

You can go sober if you get sick and tired of the effects of alcohol. For me, I was sick and tired of feeling miserable while hung over, sometimes having to work that day. I gave up alcohol 8 years ago. Haven't touched a drop since. If you decide to go sober, you may need help from a group like AA. I just did counseling, which helped.

After 3 quarters of a half gallon of 80 proof, I am finding moments of sobriety. Grant it, I am dying for food and sleep but who wouldn't after working 11 hours of work and then drink for another 6 hours....

When I do finally pass out, I hope it is for at least 10 hours..... I need to catch up on such...... Anyhow thanks for your replies..... Want to know what the other alcoholics think... LOL
1. passing out is not sleeping.
2. get drunk enough on a daily basis falling asleep sober will prove difficult
3. 1.75 of 100* would last me *at most* days. rinse, repeat.

never drank myself sober.

I just spent the past week drinking every day from approx 10 am to 11 pm. Granted I was doing some physical activity at the time so that made me “feel” sober but when I only remember bits and pieces of each day when I woke up the next morning clearly I wasn’t sober. Mentally and physically I felt like a real piece of trash. It wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last but I’m going to try and do better this year.

I’m glad to be back at the gym today and plan on going at least 2 months until my next bender for The Masters.
