Is it time to end the Henson project?

The one thing that has been the most frustrating thing for me over the years has been the teams lack of success in finding a QB... Ever since Troy retired we have had the worst luck... And often I wonder when Troy, Mike and E Smith left why wasn't #1 picks used to replace those guys... But hey it is what it is... So many years of fools gold at QB... Instead of getting the real deal Jerry tries to pull a rabbitt out of a hat... We seen it all from Quincy, Hutchingson and now Henson...

Now granted Henson hasn't had his chance to shine... However at the same time BP continues to say he has alot to learn... He has had plenty of time to be at minimum the #2 backup QB... So my thought is if you can't even be the backup then why are we still doing this?

I look at Bledsoe as a patch or a bandaid... Something temporary... At some point the Cowboys need to find their guy... Maybe it's Romo who knows, but I'm sure it isn't Henson... I would hope that if it isn't Romo that next offseason we go out and draft a QB and find a young stud in free agency... We need a young QB to groom with our young team... Someone who can win championships for years to come...

It's time to end these foolish games as one singer once said... Henson is what he is, a guy who chose the wrong proffession and was unable to find that magic that he once had... For the money he is making we could get a player of need... Let this kid we picked up become the 3rd stringer and get whatever compensation we can ala draft picks or player... Could a team such as Buffalo, San Fran or even Detriot offer a 2nd rounder? Would Detriot swap Henson for one of their WR's? If so I would suggest doing it... The Henson project is now officially over... It's just that Jerry Jones doesn't want to look like a fool... This is the only reason he is still here...

Hes the third friggin QB and its not as if the sea is full quality QBs to come in.

We have yet to see him in the preseason and he is still under contract. It took Romo 4 years to finally start coming on and i dont see why Henson shouldnt be afforded the same oppurtunity.

OK I've just about had it... We've been waiting for 6 months for NFL season. We signed TO in March, we've had Henson for 3 years. Now that the NFL season is here, all everyone can start threads about is Henson/Romo, or TO.

Seriously, is there anything new in here that hasn't been discussed in the thousands of endless threads on Henson. Does Nathanlt have anything new to complain about other than TO?

We have our second pre-season game tomorrow night, and the season starts in three weeks. Can't we talk about the other 51 guys on the roster?

It's one thing having 1 project in Romo... But to have 2 is insaine... If Bledsoe goes down for whatever reason can you honestly say you have comfort in the fact that Henson is there to continue doing the things needed to take us where we want to be...

Let's face it, Henson can't even beat out a undrafted QB off the practice field...

No kidding. I didn't even bother reading it.



But going by the title...

Romo has been given 4 years, why not Henson?

And being that Henson needed longer to get reacclimated to the game, shouldn't he be given LONGER then Romo? He's got physcial tools you don't find every day in a QB. He's the 3rd string QB. No need to "end the project" just yet. He signed a long term deal for a reason.

He's not any worse then most 3rd string QBs in the NFL, but with much more physical talent. It's worth it to wait another year or two to give him a chance to develop. As it is, QBs take awhile to develop, even immediately out of college.

People that want the "Henson Project" to end now are more interested in satisfying their own agenda then they are the future of the Dallas Cowboys. He's a 3rd string QB so there's no need to rush him. If we end up having to start our 3rd string QB then we're in trouble anyway.

Back in 2004, some of the media had Henson pegged as our starter in 2005 and I suspect they got that bit of nonsense from Valley Ranch. It kind of tells you how good the management is in evaluating qb's. Back then no one was saying that it would take Henson all that long to shake off the rust.
