This is a subject that's been brought up several times before, but after Sunday's game, and given the bye week, maybe it's now time.

Should the Cowboys swap Connor Williams and La'el Collins at left guard and right tackle?

I wasn't sure when I had first heard the idea, but the more both struggle, the more the idea makes sense. I'm seeing a tackle struggle inside at guard, with powerful players running over him. And I'm seeing a right tackle regressing and having people running around him.

Maybe it is in both players and the team's best interests to at least investigate a position swap?

If nothing else, I think you could solidify the left side of the line. Teams would have little choice but to deal with Collins inside. And worst case scenario, you could let Fleming compete at right tackle if the rookie shows he can't handle that spot either right now.

Best case scenario, I think you might have two players in roles they're best suited for.

And no better time to try it out than during the bye week.

This is one of those situation where reality has not caught up to convention but the RT nowadays see's the majority of the elite passrushers in this league. So, no, I am not even slightly curious about how that would work because I think i have a pretty good idea already.

The move makes too much sense, so of course the Cowboys won't make it.

Nice avatar btw

I would not make switch. The problem, imo, is the o-line coach. Frank Pollack vastly superior to Alexander.

Supposedly Williams size prevents him from moving outside.

He’s listed as 6-5 298 but seems a lot shorter to me.

There’s a reason everyone had him inside as a guard not G/T

The move would be Cameron Fleming to tackle and Collins to guard. Sit the rookie and bulk him up for next season. But, one would think the coaching staff has played this out in practice and came to the conclusion that it is not a better option then they are running with now. However, this coaching staff appears to be stuck in old ways and stubborn at times.

I’m not sure this is a thing anywhere but on CZ. Just doesn’t sound like a move that the staff would make mid season

This is not in the works and never will be.
CWill doesn't have the arm length to play OT.
He's 21 and will eventually be a great OG.

La'el Collins isn't moving back inside to OG and losing money.

If DAL does anything they would slide Fleming in at RT and target a new swing OT when Collins leaves via FA.

Ideally Tyron would be his old self and we could use the TE next to Collins every play.

CWill will get stronger but until he does we need to help him w Looney.

Collins is not a tackle, and Williams is not a guard.

The first won't change, while the second might one day.

Switch.

No. Even if thought each player was better suited at the other’s position, the need for each player to make technique adjustments and the loss of continuity in overall line play would likely outweigh the benefits.

Why would they promise Collins the tackle spot? Was that a forever thing?
