Is it time to think about Jones at FS?

I know this has little chance of happening but I want to rant about what another disaster Church threw up there yesterday.

He obviously isn't great in coverage, so at the very least, he has to be a productive tackler out there but he whiffed over and over and over yesterday. That was on top of his awful play in the Saints game.

Wilcox isn't great either but I'd rather see him at SS and move Jones to FS. I can't take much more of Church looking inept out there.

FS a need on this team?

That is crazy
That would require actual thinking

"Who could have predicted we need a FS?"

I like him in his role now.

He's playing his role now well. But I'd rather see him as a full time starter that would get Church off the field than as a part time player.

Again, I know its unlikely because Church is viewed as some sort of leader but he's costing us big time out there.

I want Jones in there more, I say start him then if we need to move him to corner rotate someone in at safety. Jones at FS and either Wikcox or Church at SS

It sounded silly earlier but we can't have both Wilcox and Church out there taking poor angles and missing tackles. We can get White or Jones to do that and atleast be able to cover.

i worry about jones though. not sure if it's because hes a rookie still learning. but he's not physical, plays tentative.

not claiborne bad with missed tackles, just jagish.

I've been saying Jones should start at FS since the Preseason. Wilcox and Jones are the two best safties on the team and should be starting. After last season I thought Wilcox would be the one benched but he has made a ton of progress this season and is clearly better than Church at this point.

If he makes a full time switch, it probably won't happen this year.

Church has bend painful to watch the last few games but putting a rook at safety would not be my first choice. Still say we should trade for Eric Weddle. Chargers are headed nowhere and they will lose Weddle next season for nothing in return. Weddle could be that veteran leadership and playmaking element currently missing in the secondary.

He was physical and tackled well against Gronk yesterday. I have a friend as well that has been saying the same thing. Move Wilcox to SS and Jones to FS.

They won't do it barring injury. Best bet is 2016. Church is a viable option to be released at seasons end. Wilcox has the physical ability, so maybe he gets 1 more season at SS.

Church is under contract for one more season? I have a feeling they will try to lock him up long-term...they love him o_O

All I know is the guy looks better every week. I'd love him to be a ball-hawking free safety.

Not sure I get the whole, he's playing tentative angle. He didn't look tentative at all yesterday throwing his body into ball carriers and keeping Gronkowski largely in check. Frankly, I thought one of those catches was offensive PI as Gronk clearly shoved him out of the way, despite Simms claiming otherwise.

Jones needs more seasoning... Bring him along slow, let him develop as the season goes on, keep him healthy and his mileage low, and increase his role as it gets later in the season... Once Jones doesn't have to think so much, and he can just react, then his superior athleticism can takeover.
