To be excited for the enthusiasm a new head coach is going to bring to this team next spring? Worst start since 80 freakin 9!! Wade has to go today, period, promote the 3-4 lb coach to def cord and give red his shot the rest of the season. If the team does not improve under his direct leadership then throw him out of the equation for next year. Its time for JJ to start scouting offensive lineman and head coaches for next year. Wade doesn't think he lost his team? Are you kidding me....the freakin browns play with more heart than this team!! Did you catch Irvin's speech yesterday morning JJ!! Bring this guy in I dont care if he is just a weekly motivational speaker. The man about broke down into tears talking about his cowboys this season. I mean to think the REAL cowboys fans have to read such articles as "most embarrasing pathetic team in NFL HISTORY!! What a disgrace, does JJ not realize the world will end in 2012? Has he not read the news or seen the movie (sarcasim)....let the head coach search begin and give Red his shot JJ today!!

I'm not going to be excited if Redball is named the head coach of this team. The only thing that would excite me is a whole regime change, and unfortunately, that's not going to happen until the end of the season at the earliest.

However, giving Red the reigns would HOPEFULLY show Jerry that he needs to bring in a coach with a track record and name come seasons end. This team is talented and lacking leadership and a few key players.

yep, it all gets better from here,WADE'S A GONER.

Jerry can't afford to keep Garrett as HC unless the team plays lights out the rest of the way, even then he'll get a 2 year deal at best which will hopefully be tied to RESULTS.:)

If and this is a big IF he gets promoted to interim status and gets this team to respond in a positive manner then there does need to be some sort of enthusiasm for next year. He would at least need to be in the potential equation for HC in JJ's eyes. With that I am not a "Red" supporter and don't believe in what he brings to the HC table. However if this does happen and you see a change my personal opinion about Red could change. This team needs a real coach with a real track record imo. That would get me enticed for next spring.

Well put. Keep in mind that Sean Payton was considered to be a terrible OC and not HC material.

It doesn't matter who we bring in as HC if Jerry Jones is still going to run the show. You could bring in Bill Belichick and it wouldn't make a difference (not that he would ever take this job anyway).

The HC needs to be able to hire his OWN staff of assistants, guys that are on the same page with him and his style of play. Being saddled with leftovers or "Jerry's Guys" has set each one up for failure IMO.

The HC must also the final say on who starts & who plays. There cannot be a direct line to the Kremlin, errr owner, for any player who wants to talk with Jerry. The HC has to be able to discipline the players in the way he believes is best for the TEAM.

The HC also has to be the "face" of the team, not the GM or owner. He MUST be seen as THE leader and final authority or he loses the ability to lead or have authority.

Back in the day, Tex Schramm called the shots in terms of how the team spent its money and on who but it was Landry who did all the interviews. It was Landry who talked to the team and the media. It was Landry who decided who played and who didn't.

Tex, Tom, & Gil Brandt handled the draft day decisions but it was Landry who had the final "yea" or "nay" on a particular player. He wanted guys that fit a certain model. Smart, tough, quick guys of a particular size for each position.

No one even knew who the owners were most of the time because they didn't get involved in the day-to-day running of the team. Clint Murchison was the majority owner (Bedford Wynn was another one) but no one ever saw him or heard from him and he certainly wasn't doing interviews with the media after every game. They hired the right people to run the team and let them run it!

We don't have that kind of model here. We have one guy who is the final authority on EVERY decision regarding the Cowboys. He decides who the coaches are, in fact he hires guys as assistants even before hiring the new HC. No other team would do something like that. He decides who we sign in FA and who we draft. Even Daniel Snyder has a GM to do that stuff.

Jerry Jones is in the way of this team's success. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Next year is the only thing to be excited about at this point.

The draft will be fun. Getting acclimated to the new coach will be fun too.

The upcoming offseason is bound to be more fun than what's going on now (even if there's a lockout).

The offense, for the most part, has quit just like the defense. I don't see why they would respond to him because I don't think there would be much of a change there.

If changing HC right now would make a difference I would be all for it but it is not going to change anything and if you are going to bring in a new coach then do it right and give whoever it may be the entire off season to be able to bring in their own people and allow them to evaluate talent on the team. Making meaningless changes just does not make a difference

Exactly. JJ needs to change before any other changes can be meaningful.
