Is it too early to commend this team on their offseason departures?

Getting rid of potential deadweight? This is not about the additions. I know many of you would like to harp on who we could've signed and who we should've drafted.....this is all about the departures.

Conner Williams - Having a solid season. Dolphins figured out where to play him on the line.
Randy Gregory - He has Russell Wilson to thank because if it wasn't for him people would be talking about how big of a bust this signing was. Cowboys wanted to put clauses in his deal that they knew he wouldn't accept and he left. Can last be seen fighting on the sidelines.
Amari Cooper - CZ's favorite player....well not until he left. I'm sure many of you are wondering why we haven't gotten the weekly updates on his play by posters on this site like we were getting earlier in the season. Probably because since Watson has returned he's caught 16 passes for 212 receiving yards. He has a 1k receiving yard season under his belt and that's worth commending especially with most of it coming from Brissett...to no surprise his best games have come in home games this year lol. But i'm sure soon as he has a 100 receiving yard game the resident knee jerkers will remind us so stay tuned......
La'El Collins - terrible start to the season.....seems like things were getting better as the season went on and ultimately is now out for the season.
Ty Neskhe
Brent Urban - Nonfactor
Kazee - Pittsburgh
Neal
Jarwin - Out of the league
Malik Turner - bounced around a few teams
Cedric Wilson - A guy who everyone said we'd miss.....not even the 3rd or 4th option there. Not sure if they knew they were trading for Tyreke Hill or not but I feel bad for the guy. Never stood a chance there. He worked hard to get that payday.
Greg the Leg

They deserve their props. They got better simply because of drafting well and getting rid of deadweight.

It would be interesting to hear from the Cowboys Coaching Staff why they didn't see an opportunity for Williams at Center.

The Cowboys would not have been hurt by having Cooper on the field.

All-in-all, the roster churning worked out fine.

I'm good with all of them leaving, but I do wish we could have retained Cedric Wilson. He was great depth to have and he seemed to have good rapport with Dak. I can't blame him for chasing a payday though.

I can't lie. I was pulling for Randy Gregory most of the time when he was here.

But when he end up fighting with a 49ers offensive tackle after the play, which cost us a stop and turnover on downs, thus detracting from the time our offense had to score, I was like, "I'm done with you, Randy."
Just a boneheaded, dumb play in the playoff of all games.
It was almost as egregious as the Dee Ford "dumbfoundedness" in the AFC Championship Game - ALMOST!

I know Cedric Wilson chased the money, and I can fault him. But he would have been better, playing-wise, staying in Dallas.

Few things....

I use to chalk it up to Conner not wanting to play center. But seeing him do it now...I'm not sure if he finally was willing to make the position switch or it was the Cowboys who failed to find a different position for him.

When it comes to Cooper...he had to go. I'm not sure why they felt he had to go but if they felt they wanted a different dynamic and different type of player on this team then i'm assuming that's why a lot of these guys didn't come back. Cooper doesn't fit it.

The vast majority of those players would have been cut by a Zone vote, if possible.

Cooper might have been close enough for a recount, but I think he still goes, according to the zone.
Wilson probably wouldn't have been voted out.
Gregory would have had some supporters but not near enough.

So yea, props to the FO for making the obvious moves that most anyone here would have made.

They tried Williams at center in the preseason and his snaps were all over the place. Glad he figured it out though good for him.

Yeah if there is one guy I wish we would've kept it wasn't Cooper it was Wilson. For the salary I get it. Really liked the guy.
Its crazy though because if i'm not mistaken I think we got more bang for our buck with guys like Kearse, LVE and Noah Brown.

And this is why guys like Gregory needed to go. They shouldn't have even offered him a deal. And I wanted him back because I didn't want to lose him for nothing but I was wrong there myself. You shouldn't keep guys on your team because of the thought of losing them without compensation. Get guys like that off the field.
And I will say Sam Williams has shown some of those qualities too doing some dumb stuff here and there but he has the excuse of being a rookie. Gregory has been suspended and is 30 and its still not clicking.

Yeah that's not entirely true. People were pissed Gregory left and went to the Bronco's. Maybe it was more about him having the audacity to do it as opposed to the player.

But this organization doesn't make moves with the fans in mind. If they did they would've signed Von Miller and he would've been a bust signing.

This place was pissed Cooper left but maybe better compensation would've changed some opinions.

These were not bad players. A lot of these guys left here and went on to start for other teams.

ght.

Man you FO applauders really need to stop repeating that narrative. He was our best receiver even WITH taking a nap every 5 games or so. And the reason for WHY they have been looking for another WR simply is, that they weren't confident with this squad anymore. Could you imagine having Amari still on this team and CD improving the way he did at the same time? Now one could argue that CD couldn't have stepped up his game because Amari would have taken that 1st WR job, but that is nonsense. If anything Amari would have drawn alot of attention away from CD like he did last season. His salary just wouldn't have mattered this season. They just chickened out because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to trade him this next off season because of injury, bad performance or whatever. I don't buy that locker room cancer thing in a million years. He was right to call the team out for more reps.

Other than that, I say this season has been as good as it is despite one of the probably worst off seasons this FO ever produced, not because of it. Simply because coaching stepped up their game and this stacked defense played up to it's potential (well at least until the injuries).

The one thing I give them credit for... no, the two things I give them credit for is the signing of Maher and believing in Cooper Rush when no one else would. No, let me cut that down back to one thing, as the signing of Maher was just playing (russian) roulette, they just won. Which makes you look good but still crazy.

And one last thing: If they win it all then you can't argue against anyone on this team anymore. So right after the win (instead of just celebrating and relaxing) a gazzillion threads from all these lizzards will show up on these boards "calling out" everyone who wasn't in awe of Dak or the FO or whoever. Well guess what? FY. Still wouldn't make the concerns wrong. A superbowl just erases anything that went wrong as nobody cares anymore. But if they go out once again during that offseason, then all this crap will get digged back up, as it was yet another wasted year. The saddest part of this forum are those people who feel entitled to "call other people out". By just killing the culture with it.

Actually it's too late to be making this pronouncement.. To have any credibility you would have had to proclaim that these were addition by subtraction moves back in the spring.. Anything we say this late in the game is just hindsight..

I'd take Cedric Wilson back, but not at his current price tag. I'd take a flier on Malik Turner again too. It's not like Jalen Tolbert or James Washington are contributing much.

They gave him very limited snaps offseason through camp to preseason. Dolphins just put him there from day 1 and gave him all the reps.

Like many other zoners I feel Gregory old Jerry. So once it was figured out he was leaving I was good with it and I can’t really work

I had no issues with letting most of them go.

I thought C. Williams was under appreciated here, he is in the top 40 of starting NFL OL.
Gregory glad he is gone.
I would have kept Cooper, or at least have a solid plan if you plan to get rid of him was my only problem.
C. Wilson no way do you pay the 4th or 5th option that much money on this team.
The rest no issues really bottom of the roster types.

I wonder if the Dolphins told him to work on snaps when he signed his contract as well.

CEE DEE wouldn't be the CEE DEE he is today if Amari was still here. Amari doesn't show up on road games. That's useless to a team that may be on the road for every playoff game.

The reason people call out the morons on this site for their CRAP is they spend MONTHS telling us how much our team sucks. Telling us how bad they are. And we eat it up. So yeah when the opportunity presents itself? Yeah people let them have it. Maybe its prematurely. But its not anymore premature than the people on this site who said we would be 9-8 or worse this offseason. Everyone has a voice on this site. Any real fan shouldn't care if they were proven wrong. I was wrong on a lot of things and I couldn't be more happy. People try so hard to be a "realist" that you've turned against your own team and don't even enjoy watching Cowboy football anymore.

I think the timing on getting rid of Coop might've hurt them. Seems like during the draft they could've got more compensation. I still think its weird the best offer they could get was a 5th rounder due to his salary. I guess there were reports some teams offered higher but didn't want to pay his salary.
