Niners grant veteran safety Lewis his release. I know nothing about him wondering what the rest of you think

Didn't he used to play for the egirls?

Yeah, and he got progressively slower every year to the point where the 9ers had to give him a handicap spot in the player and coaches' parking lot.

We are solid at safety despite all the Ball rueage. It's nickel LB and the lack of mobility of the starting ILBs that is the soft spot on the defense. I should say speed at ILB.

I think Ball is still a major concern. He's pretty below average. That position will need to be addressed offseason.

We need to draft a guy (a guy with talent, not a 6th round shot in the dark), not overpay some 30 year old.

I agree. Get some fresh blood back there.

Let's sign the guy who just lost his job to....wait for it...

..Taylor fricken Mays.

Lewis is slow, doesn't tackle anymore, and would have a hard time covering Wade Phillips on a fly pattern. No thanks, but we do need improved safety play.

Kinda wish we went for Chung in '09 after watching that MNF Pats game..... instead of wasting picks on RW11.....
