Before I begin on Jason Garrett and why I believe his offense is stuck in the 1990′s, I want to make it clear that I believe in Garrett as the head coach. I believe in how he prepares the team and how he works the players, but I just have my worries about his offense and his lack of imagination. Jason Garrett’s offensive philosophy was constructed in the 90’s, but yet, I don’t believe that line of thinking is successful in the today’s NFL.
The one area that Jason Garrett struggles with as a coach is his ability to devise a scheme that creates mismatches. But before I describe why Coach Garrett isn’t as creative as a Bill Belichick or a Sean Payton, you must first understand Jason Garrett’s quarterbacking background. Garrett played and learned under Norv Turner and Ernie Zampeze and adopted their offensive philosophy.
