Is JJ on track for 1700 yards?

Never, he is a 1300 yard back.

"Never"...yeah OK, come back at the end of the season and eat some crow. By the way, nice sig. But shouldn't it say 14 out of 16 which is how many times the Skins have been spanked by the Cowboys in the past 16 meetings. One fluke comeback in a game where they were thouroughly outplayed is worthy of a Super Bowl-like celebration? Pathetic really. If the Cowboys got that excited over a lucky regular season comeback I'd be embarassed. We celebrate like that when we actually WIN Super Bowls! You know, like we've done 5 times. Jones gets 1500 if he stays healthy.

fancow is not far off, because Payton loves the pass, and BP has laready stated he is using JJ too much. Just cause the guy is a Skins fan, doesn't mean he doesn't know something about football. We put the game into two of our better players hands, Glenn and Roy, we got beat, we lost, the sun came out on Tuesday. Move on...

He's played 10 games. In those 10 games he's had a long run of 53 yards. I believe Emmitt had maybe a dozen 50+ yard runs in his 15 year career. JJ will get his.

Edit: my original estimate of Emmitt's 50+ yarders was way off.

How many was it ?

That is a lofty goal Jones has set for himself and still possiable to reach we are heading into week 3 of the season so it is hard to know if he will or won't but I think any where from 1,300 to 1,500 has to be considered a pretty darn good season. I think for him to reach that goal others around him need to step up and make big plays because right now every team we will face will be keying on Jones.

thats the problem, teams are keying in on jones. i remember reading that Commanders poll of which offensive player concerns them the most, it was julius jones by a very large margin. im thinking the more we get price in the mix of our offense the more teams will have to respect our deep passing game, therefore giving jones a lot more space to run.

Totally agree with you, we have to force teams to respect other areas of our offense to help open lanes up for Jones.

Unless the OL starts to get it together and open some holes, he'll struggle to get 1200 yards. He has the ability, but he's not Barry Sanders...the line blocking has to improve greatly, though they've been solid in pass protection.

With our current blocking, having faced two of the toughest run defenses we'll see this year, he's on pace for 1400. Is it unreasonable to assume that he'll do better facing lesser defenses?

Like today? He should get 100+ against the Whiners

138 today puts him on pace for 1700 on the season.
That would not be a surprise to me at all. He might even be in the 150-160 range today.

No I predict he is in the 13-1400 yard range.

See the problem with having Bledsoe is there will always be a tendancy to air it out and get away from the run. Based on the San Diego game, the boys might be in some shootouts...which means less carries for JJ.

Hey fancow - why don't you get your own sig pic? I mean I know its the greatest picture ever :) but its mine.

As far as the question at hand; Jones and Portis are both licking their chops because they get to play the soft NFC West defenses. The AFC West has some pretty soft defenses as well, although the Chiefs look as though they've stepped it up.

1700? Well, I think that is a little out of the question, but barring injury, I'd bet JJ could come close to 1500 and double digit TDs.

I can careless about his personal goals. As long as we run effectively to win games, we can run by committee. Team accomplishments are the ones that count. Everything else is gravy.
