Is Larry Brown having $ problems?

I hate when athletes do this. And he was the MVP of that game in a season dedicated to the memory of his son. One would think that ring should mean a helluva lot more to him than $5K.

That makes no sense. I realize that people have financial hardships, but how can you part with something of such sentimental value?

Larry Brown’s Super Bowl XXVII ring is for sale on EBay. You can own it for ten thousand dollars.

I called Larry and asked him if he knew his championship ring was on EBay and he said “No. I did donate the ring to a children’s charity three or four years ago. I had no idea they are trying to sell it.”

Brown was not happy about the idea of his Super Bowl ring being hocked and he plans to look into getting his ring back.

And now, one year later, it's for sale at a different auction house. Curiouser and curiouser. BTW, Larry, how was it of any use to the children's charity unless they did sell it? Did you expect the orphans to just gather round and admire it or something?

The photo is of his Super Bowl XXX ring when was the MVP, not Super Bowl XXVII. I wonder which ring is for sale, not that it really matters.

Edit: The ebay listing has been removed. Hmmmmmmm.

I don't get it.

If you're donating a ring to a kid's charity, wouldn't they HAVE to sell it in order to get some kind of value from it?

What did Larry think they were going to do with it, put it in a display case for all the kids to look at?

I like Larry Brown, but his explanation sounds a little bogus.

Who needs clothes, shelter and full stomachs when they can stare at a hunk of jewelry all day?

Is it really his?

Can't remember how long ago it was, 4 or5 years maybe. Supposedly Mike Madano's championship ring was for sale on ebay or somewhere. From the Stanley Cup.

Come to find out, he was tired always worried about protecting it when traveling. So he took it to a jeweler to have a copy made.

So the jeweler made an extra copy, and was trying to sell it.
