Is Marinelli thinking of retiring?

Yeah, there actually is an article out there on Marinelli thinking about retiring.

I don't think he's the problem, but I kinda hope he does. I'd like to see some fresh blood on defense

Of course, we'll probably just promote Leon Lett or something

Eberflus has spent more time in his career as a DC and linebackers coach than he has as a passing game coordinator.

Not sure why Dallas moved him to offense.
Pretty sure that means defensive passing game, i.e. the secondary unit.

He’s the defensive passing game coordinator. Didn’t even know that existed tilll he held the title

Wait. I thought you meant Linehan. Isn’t Eberflus passing game coordinator? I’m confused.

Lb's coach and Defensive Passing Game Coordinator essentially the point man for communication with the LB's and the back end.

I hope your joking about the other poster saying this and don't actually believe it.
:lmao2:

The wrong Coordinator would be retiring if this is true.

Not loving Marinelli but look on the other side of the ball....

Jesus...Like blowing leads in games that matter is a coincidence...

Like the 0-16 Lions wasn't his fault...

Like the 2014 playoff loss wasn't his fault....

I'm so sick of the excuses for this clown...

He did get you 12 and 13 wins!

Hell, he only had the number 1 offense in terms of TD per drive, top 5 in yards, and top 5 in points scored per just eight weeks ago.

Someone yesterday posted a really smart post, but was under the assumption, when they read that he was "Passing Game Coordinater", that it meant offense.
I called them out, in a funny way, but it's taken on a life of it's own.

Wait... was it yesterday, or the day before? Their memory wasn't sure;

That cold Kentucky rain keeps coming down, down, down...and we keep walking in mediocrity. My fix, sir!

The other side of the ball has been bad for only one season and it was primarily due to losing our best offensive player for six games and our LT for a few games. Prior to Zeke’s suspension the Cowboys scored over 30 points in four straight games. They didn’t score fewer than 28 in five straight games. When the Cowboys finally figured out how to get back on track after Zeke’s suspension they had back to back 30 point games. they had a 40 point game this season.

Granted the playcalling was awful at times but the offense still showed enough to stay with Linehan. If we could add a speed WR and add a solid backup LT, along with having Zeke a full season we could turn the offense around quick. A couple of solid player acquisitions along with a few adjustments may be all we need offensively.

marinelli is the best coach on this team and fans are celebrating him potentially retiring?

Exactly
'Best coach on this team '
If there are 3 mounds of garbage and 1 smells less.....

I hate the old stale defense he runs but one thing you can say about Marinelli is he gets the most out of his players. Players love him and they go all out for him. Hes a good technical coach.

Give Marinelli what amounts to 5 first rounders on the Dline and see what he does. Frederick, 1st Rounder, Martin, 1st rounder, Tyron Smith, 1st rounder, cooper, 1st rounder, Lael Collins, projected 1st rounder. Dez Bryant 1st rounder. Witten, Hall of Fame tight end. Zeke, 1st rounder, number 4 pick.

The defense has been playing well, especially given the resources or rather, lack thereof.

The 2014 playoff loss was all on Murray let’s be real here

I'm guessing there's some correlation between Martinelli's retirement consideration and Eberflus considering whether or not leave for DC position. Notice the article said even IF he coached 2018 that would it. He could be thinking why let the team lose a good coach to take over for him if he was going retire in two years anyway. Why not push it up a year. That way the Cowboys can promote Eberflus for an easier transition.

Marinelli is great as long as Sean Lee isn't injured. I don't care how great a defensive player is, the entire defense shouldn't collapse if one player is out.
Even when Sean Lee is playing, I don't have any confidence in this defense in getting a stop when it matters.
