Is McCarty involved in play calling?

I’ve noticed the past couple of games that he has had the play sheet in his hand and is talking on the headset each play. I’m guessing he is at least suggesting things to Moore.

at least he looks involved vs JG who just stood there.

He clapped. I resent you insinuating he just stood there. Also he was a leader of men who went about things the right way and loved the game of football.

shame on you
This is really funny! :lmao:

He’s been clapping for a really long time.

He should have been doing this all year long. But still why some of the knucklehead calls at critical times. Should have he overridden those. I hope they weren't his ideas.

Actually he is probably shifting from the defensive headset to the offensive, not involved, but needs / wants to be aware of things as all coaches do.

Not sure but did see him with what look like a play sheet.

He has held on all year long not just recently. As HC yes he is involved with game plans and plays that are being called. He stays in the loop not just a spectator

I never understood the point of hiring McCarthy and not having him call plays..

Made 0 sense..

The way he acted in GB and in his first presser here when asked about playcalling leads me to believe Moore calling plays was forced on him even though reports later came out that he was so interested in Moore as his OC.

To me the Jones’s didn’t want to deal with the same thing they did with Jason and Wade publicly again so that’s how they got their cake and ate it too.

And that was a big part of his coaching theory.

I had the same thought as far as why MM if he isnt calling plays.

Its typical of how this franchise is run though.....no obvious plan...just collect things, throw them into the pot and hope it tastes good.

Plain and simple however as to what happened with MM....he told Jerry exactly what he wanted to hear, and bought into it big time.

Him wanting to retain Moore was certainly part of it, and IMO was the biggest issue with the MM hire.

The two together make no sense and never did.

While I have no issue with Moore overall, I think its best for MM if he isnt around...for several reasons.

Yet, Mc repeatedly talked about how Moore was a guy who he wanted on his staff, regardless of where he got hired

I feel like I covered that in my post..

It’s possibly true what they are publicly saying.. I don’t buy it but I have no proof.

If you think his words in Minnesota plus what he said in his opening press conference regarding playcalling adds up to him desperately trying to get Moore as his playcaller then that’s fine. I don’t buy it. I could be wrong though.

I think the play sheet McCarthy is holding, is the same one or similar to the one Kellen Moore has in his hand, and suggests that he is following behind Moore to stay on the same page and communication.
I really believe MM has given Moore the full book play calling,. full X's and O's power to Moore. and that includes how we use our RBs.

When it comes to going for it on 4th and one, or 4th and goal, that decision is MM's,.. in terms of what exact play to use in going for it, that decision is Kellen's, imo.

McCarthy is involved in all aspects of the team. I'd be shocked if he didn't have a play sheet for both the offense and defense on game day. The HCs job is to coach the coaches. I think it takes a special staff from top to bottom to be able to have your HC completely oversee one side of the ball. With that type of set up you basically have two HCs.
