Is Micah still going to give us a discount?

Chase making 40+million, do we realistically think he'll take 30+ million, he'd be a fool to do so. His agent wouldn't do it, and the NFLPA would come down hard on Micah for messing up the brotherhood!

It's going to be interesting to see how much he'll make, I'm torn 50/50 about us having three players with top deals, but it is what it is, hopefully all of this spending will one day translate into us going to a NFC championship game or even a SUPERBOWL!!

Please give your thoughts
Nope
Hes a talker

what is a "Discount?" Is 38 million a discount? 35 Million? 39 Million?
His agent will do whatever his client tells him to do.

The "discount" is when you don't wait to sign a player until the last minute. The Jones clan has chances to get discounts, but they are too dysfunctional to take advantage of them.
Because we know that all the agents are really stupid. I mean, CeeDee's agent and Jefferson agent is one and the same. Like he was going to let Lamb sign for 33 million knowing Jefferson was gonna get 40.....yea, right.

Did he say he would take 75 cents on the dollar or was that the fans? Answer: fans.

Also, he didn’t just say he would take a big discount. He said if it would help put a more competitive team on the field he’d take less.

Have you seen Jerry do anything with the cap room we currently have?

Cowboys currently have 40m of cap just sitting there.

Should Micah look at that and say “you know, if Jerry had 50m, I know he’d go out and sign two pro bowlers?

So, people like to say Micah is “just a talker”, but let’s be real, plenty of people “just talking” here as well.

Hes a talker because he gets run at

Hes a talker because he disappears in the playoffs

You may not like it but those are facts

After what Jerry paid for a washed-up QB and his No.1 receiver, if I was Parsons, I'd say HELL NO to a team discount!

I would doubt it. I think its one thing if this team was going out and spending to improve the team, but the Cowboys have close to $43M in open cap space right now. Why would an athlete give a team a discount if the purpose of that discount is just to line the pockets of the owners?
Line his pockets? Lol, Jerry can't keep what he doesn't spend on players, remember a thing called the Cap?

Owners cannot put any of the cap in their pockets. What they don't spend between the minimum the league requires to be paid to the players and the cap limit can be rolled over into next year, but no, Jerry can't get any of that.

The culture in Football, or in any sport today is making the most money, that's what their taught, not like back in the day you played the game of football and they gave you some money too...Will Micah take a discount, what really is a discount? I like what Josh Allen said..How much do I really need??

Sure he can. The only requirement is that they spend 89% of the cap over a four year period. Over the last four years that's $106M that is optional for Jerry to spend.

Edit - Actually were are in a 3 year/90% phase from 2024-2026.

First of all, there are various ways to be the highest paid for a given position - highest average salary per year, highest guaranteed amount, highest total amount or highest bonus.

And Micah said (if memory serves) he didn't NECESSARILY have to be THE highest paid non-quarterback.
Doesn't mean he can't ask for $39.75 million per year, which for all practical purposes is the same as $40 million. Not "the highest" technically, but the difference is pocket change for those guys.

And if Jerry offers it, you can bet your bottom dollar Micah will take an amount that's the "highest". We all know Jerry wants to show he's not a cheapskate.

And don't forget, no state income tax in Texas, Miles Garrett lives in Ohio, which a 2.75% to 3.5% state income tax, so his $40 mil is reduced (just using the top number, obviously taxes are more complex than that) by $1.4 million, so his actual salary is $38.6 mil, in a way.

Micah will be taken care of, I suspect he'll get one of the 3 above amounts mentioned, so he can be the "highest paid"...

I say he takes 32-36 mil. Micah also makes a ton in endorsements and other things. Being a Cowboy has its perks. Unless you're greedy like Dak, and want everything you can get for the "brotherhood". lol

No, it's not, the money can only be rolled over or paid to the players. Owners can NOT "pocket" the amount if they don't spend it on players or roll it over into next year, a minimum of 89% of the cap must be paid to the players each year, so that owners can't pay players little to nothing and build up like $200 million in cap space and simply buy all the best players.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but that doesn't make any sense to me. If the running 4 year cap is a total of $1,000,000,000 but an owner only spends $900,000,000 then that owner just saved $100,000,000. That $100,000,000 wont get paid to the players as the team has met the minimum requirements.

I get that owners cant go to an extreme on this but they still have 10% of the cap as wiggle room, which is a decent amount of cash since we are talking about a $280M cap number this year.

That’s over simplified and overstated. Players’ game checks are taxed where the game was played. So it’s only the 8 or 9 home games that matter in regard to a state’s and city’s income tax.

The no state income tax has not resulted in any particular advantage for the eight teams in states that have no state income tax. Texas, Florida, Washington, Nevada, Tennessee.

Wasn't meant as an in-depth analysis, just noting some things that are involved.

You don't understand the cap. It's TV money, basically, the overall contract, with some other deductions, etc. is divided up between the 32 teams and each team allocates the money to the players as they see fit, at least 89% of the money, that's the minimum they must pay the players. The rest must be rolled over to the next year, the owners can NEVER get any of the money paid to themselves.

Hope that clears it up.

He’s the best player on the team.

I hope you bring this same energy for players who don’t deliver anything near what Micah does.

I kinda doubt it though

Josh takes less than 10% less AAV, and it’s closer when you look at the structure, and he’s a Dallas Cowboys Hero.

Micah is expected to take a 25% discount lest he become someone who “just talks”

If Micah took 39m he would get destroyed here. He could take 50% of market and our fans would say “that sounds about right but it’s still too much”

It’s a no win situation for any Cowboy, plain and simple, unless you are Zack Martin who can hold out of camp for more money, despite being in steep decline, and the Zone just says “pay the man!”.
