Just made a small wager yesterday with a friend, that my cowboys would win another super bowl before his Seahawks win their first.Did I just give my dough away or do I have a chance?

how much

i think its safe, we're taking big steps every year and i think we will be a big contender next year

Logic says you're either betting your money with your heart or because you're a Parcells loyal fan who believes he'll catch fire again.

Either way, history says you made a foolish bet. Other than our glorious history, having to go way back to the early 90s, what could anyone possibly be looking at to think we're in line for a SB win before the Seahawks?

Way back in the 60's and 70's when we were going to the playoffs 17 years in a row, I'd have said it's a common sense bet over any other team in the NFL. Now, there seems to be only a handful of NFL teams less likely to win a super bowl than us. Anything can happen, but right now I'd have to say every team in our division has a better chance of winning one before we do. <sigh>....

I've been rewarded for being patient since 1967...things have always seemed to come back to Dallas, but I've never seen us so devoid of STARS, excitement, and key young players at the positions that really matter as we've been in the past 7 years...did someone break a mirror?

Where's our young, athletic star at QB or WR? I would have included RB, but there are so many on here who still think Julius Jones is the next Emmitt Smith. Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas, Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith...every star back who's ever helped us win was a first round draft pick...even Calvin Hill and Duane Thomas were rookies of the year in the NFL. I'm not saying Julius hasn't shown flashes, can't stay healthy, or won't be the rb to take us to a SB, but if he does, he'll be the first one drafted outside of round 1, and the first to suffer so much with injuries in his first two seasons.

I had something similar with a bud of mine from LA. The bet is for 300$ and says starting this season, Dallas has 10 years to win a Super Bowl. My bud says no way it will happen, I like my odds.

Actually I think you made a good bet. Seattle is good team but not great. If it does make the SB, it will lose to either Colts or Pats. They particularly don't have the defense necessary to win and I also don't see him as a team who will be competitive every year for SB. Heck I'm not even sure Seattle can beat the Skins (who I hate) or us (if we had decent OL & running game).

When Jimmy Johnson came to Dallas, by buddy made a bet with our Steeler fan friend that Dallas would get 5 Super Bowls before the Steelers.

They had 4, we had 2.

Look at how that turned out.

Never bet against the :star: Cowboys :star:

Don't worry about it in 9 years time 300$ will barely buy you a happy meal and a beer.

I think it's pretty safe- his Seahawks will be watching the NFC Championship game, not playing in it.

Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine

We came within a couple of bad play calls OR a couple of missed field goals OR a couple of poor plays in the defensive secondary of winning our division this year. We have three or four positions that need immediate improvement on the OL and at FS and we need better depth at several more positions. But we were in contention for the playoffs going into the last weekend of the season even with our annual late season meltdown. We are much closer to being a SB team than we were last year and I think we will continue to get better.

All that being said I think the guy made a poor bet. One thing for sure we have NO shot at winning the SB this year while the Seahawks do. The Seahawks may not have the history but Holmgreen does and his team is playing well this year. They have a legitimate shot a going to the SB and if they get there they could win it...who knows.
