NO was riding the emotion of a city that is hungry for ANYTHING to go right. Don't get me wrong NO played a hell of a game, but Atlanta walked into a hornet's nest last night that, honestly, I'm not sure ANY team in the NFL would have fared very well last night.

That place was ready to erupt before the seats were even full. Now,to go back, there might be a team in the league that could weather that storm and walk in there and play a competitive game, but that game was NO's before they even kicked off (regardless of the competitor).

That game reminded me of 9/11...when the Patriots got going on those SuperBowl wins...

Some kind of emotion thing...and now this game where all that diaster happened...same thing to me.

When the Saints go marching in..

Emotion and a couple quarters will get you a cup of coffee. Thats about it. Being emotional doesnt help you win a game. Execution will, though.

I disagree completely. It's why rivalry games are typically competitive regardless of the records (like I said typically). Those horrible Cowboys teams don't dominate the Foreskins for that amount of time without a serious dose of emotion.

Did you see Joe Horn get the snot knocked out of him, lay on the turf for a second (in obviously serious pain) and will himself off the turf to return to the huddle? That has NOTHING to do with execution. That's all emotion. And the team rode that wave all night long. Emotion can will you into things that you typically won't will yourself to do unemotionally. Did the Saints execute well last night? Absolutely. Would they have executed as well in Atlanta without all the emotional hoopla? I highly, highly doubt it. They executed in concert with their emotion, not in spite of it.

I think it's probably a bit of both.

NO is playing a little above themselves right now but if you look at there defense last year, it ranked in the top 5 if I'm not mistaken and that was with no offense, to speak of at all.

With the offensive additions they've managed to aquire this off season, this should be an even stronger team defensively. They have enough weapons to score a few TDs. This team could be pretty good.

As for Atlanta, well, they beat a TB team who really has not found there offense yet and Carolina, a team that I think you might be able to say the exact same thing about. Two TOs for Carolina didn't help at all but you figure Vick accounted for a total of 188 yards, 140 passing. Not exactly an offensive juggernot. I don't think the Falcons are near as good as advertised. JMO, of course.

Interesting take ABQ, but you can't discount the serious rushing yards this team is putting up (with help from Vick of course), but they are still playing NFL caliber teams. I think the true identity of ATL is somewhere in the middle of last night's game and their previous two.

if you can stop the falcons rushing attack(easier said then done) you have a good chance at beating them. simple as that

I think Payton and the staff figured out Atl's college running attack and were intent on forcing Vick to beat them with his arm, which he's proven over and over that he can't. It was phenomenal scouting and scheming by Payton's staff IMO.
Also throw in that Abraham didn't play. He was a one-man wrecking crew in the Carolina game and really made Atl's DL tons better. Without him, Atl has a hard time generating a good passrush.
I don't think emotion had as much to do with it as did scheming, scouting, and execution....in which all roads lead back to Payton's staff. They had a perfect gameplan and executed it perfectly, and that's always easier to do at home.

I agree with you. They have run the ball well but that's really Dunn IMO. In his first two games, he rushed for 132 and 134 respectively. Vick had a good rushing game against TB but that defense hasn't shown it can really stop anything yet. They are a pro defense, no question, but there rush defense is last in the entire NFL. Pats rushed for over a hundred on the Bucs, you know what Atlanta did and even Carolina rushed for over a hundred on the Bucs. I think Atlanta is clearly one of the better rushing teams in the league but there not balanced on offense. Eventually, that's going to catch up with them against the better teams. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't know if Atlanta is as good a team as they first appeared to be or is it that TB is just pretty sorry defensively this year?

There isnt a football team on the planet that could have beaten the Saints last night. Sometimes, one team just has to win, and last night, the only team that stood a chance was New Orleans.

They also lost to a lot of teams when emotions were high. The Giants game was probably the apex of that and look how much that did for them.

To many things looked fishy, I can see both sides of the Argument However something just did not look right on the falcons bench...

To many question marks and not enough answers makes a lot of speculation. Either way it was good for NO.

.

yeah, its called the reaction of getting your arses kicked on national TV

you people with these conspiracy theory things are freaking hilarious...the Falcons are not that good of a team for people to be sitting here discussing that basically they HAD to have thrown the game for the Saints to win, instead of just admitting the Saints played a great game, had a great defensive game plan and that the Falcons have the worst passing game in the NFL

the 85 Bears lost a game...the 92 Cowboys lost to a lowly Rams team (and at Texas Stadium)...the 93 Cowboys lost to a horrible Falcons team...the Falcons are just another team that lost on the road, the conspiracy junk is garbage and just another example of people just failing to admit that Mike Vick just isnt very good...he is a HUGE liability if his team cant run the ball...it wasnt the first time, it wont be the last time
