It says osa has a dead money cap hit of 16 million but I don't see why that would be the case? I don't think I can bring up the page.

It still burns me that Zach Martin pushed Jerry for an extension to get more guaranteed money and then the very next year he just quits and we're stuck with that big old $16 million cap hit that's insane..

Dude should be ashamed of himself, He knew he was breaking down and probably didn't have too much longer, but yet he forced the issue, stole money IMO..

And its ironic ,

around here many people we're mad at Jerry for not just caving early they were really getting mad when it looked like he may hold out and then the fans got their way and the dudes now an anchor on our dead cap.

I mean is that estimate is that for 2026 or does that get spread out over two years or is that now 16 this year and 16 next year, for a total of 32.

This is why you know they're serious though ,they were willing to eat that money and choose Clark over OSA, even though Clark would have been free to cut he didn't need to be extended or restructured he literally had no cap implications That tells me they know what they wanted so they were willing to sacrifice some cat for it..

So, they got a 3rd rounder but that's a lot of dead money to eat so somebody raise their hand up and said, "Hey we need to keep Clark over OSA."

Mazi still on the dead cap list too.

It wasn't a June 1st cut so there's no cap hit in 2027. The 16 million cap hit is this year. But it was a trade so there shouldn't be any cap hit. In fact we should have gotten 16 million in cap savings. He didn't have 16 million dollars worth of signing bonuses that would have accelerated to this year. That's why I think OTC might be wrong.

All of his bonus money has to be accounted for.

"This is a business. This is not a charity.

You know, maybe one day Unicef will get into the Professional Football business. but until then, its business first and foremost."

He didn't steal money. He deserved everything he got and more.

That still pisses me off that Zack Martin held us hostage and then hung us out to dry. And of course dak got hurt so it didn't matter anyways. that just added insult to injury.

The dead money of $16,750,000 is offset by his 2026 contact which pays $16,250,000.

You may be misunderstanding the dead money concept.

His base for last year was 1.75m and his overall cap hit was only 6.26m because money was pushed forward. Dallas has to reconcile that once he is gone, and the dead money is how thats done.

so your opinion is now fact?
typical narcissist behavior

I don’t remember you banging on the table for Micah during his hold in but I bet you were yelling “pay that man his money!” When it was Martin.

The tail end of his career was just him trading on his history with the team and full of bad faith negotiations with the team

I almost always advocate for the player vs the owner. This is one of the only times when it was obvious that there was a shakedown going on.

But he’s Zach Martin, so ….

and I will take his word over yours any day of the week and twice on Sundays

When you trade someone, you are still responsible for any money you have paid that guy towards your cap that hasn't hit yet. That means signing bonus.

The team trading for the guy is only responsible for his salary. Osa now has a more reasonable cap hit for SF.

Yes.
It can can looked at either of 2 ways.
He received a 20m signing bonus prorated over 5 years including a void year.
The 4 years left in the proration would equal 16.
Or he had a 32 plus million dead cap and a cap hit around 16 million before roster bonuses that San Fran will now pay.
32-16=16

His salary for this year, which was part of his guaranteed money, goes to the 49ers to pay, but our hit is from the remainder of his $20 million signing bonus ($4 million per year over the next four years). He would have had a cap charge for us of $20.25 million ($16.25 million base plus $4 million of prorated bonus) and now has a dead cap charge of $16 million (the bonus money) for a cap savings of $4.25 million.
