Yes we have Guyton but he struggled, I think moving him back to where he's comfortable at you right tackle would help his growth. You then take Richards who is awesome, and plug him in at LT. We have huge needs, I'd hate to see us take an OT with the 12th pick. What are your thoughts

Guyton just completed his rookie season. Any talk of moving him NEXT SEASON isn't happening for a couple reasons. He played pretty much as expected, flashes but growing pains. There is no way in hell Jerry is going to admitt draft him as LT was a mistake after one season. Like it or not he's your LT for the next couple of years....min

I think you’re spot on. It will be a competition between Guyton (low floor, high ceiling) and Richards (high floor, low ceiling). For my money, I’m betting on Richards. I like his demeanor and cognition better. Also feel he that based on his college performance, he was unfairly penalized for his size, which he makes up for with long arms.

Jerry will 'spin' the signing,....'we had Steele in right, we always intended swapping Guyton.
If I was going to make a splash, it would be at LT, our O:Line needs strengthening and Dak needs max protection (and with the O:line it'll help the running game and/or the next QB if Dak struggles).
Biggest fear.....someone tells Jerry that Tyron's a FA.

i think guyton is our left tackle moving forward.
his best game...to me...was vs myles garrett in cleveland.
he handled business.
i think he'll continue to improve.
i'd like to see an upgrade at right tackle.
either thru the draft or a hell in a cell match between steele and richards.
time will prove they got it right with guyton.
if i'm wrong...i'll own it.

Lol Steele isn't getting cut. He's probably back as the starter maybe the swing.
Yeah I'm skeptical he gets cut. Possibly traded if they really wanted to bump Tyler Smith outside or like a 1st round Tackle, but Steeles struggles this year were very exaggerated. He for sure had some bad moments, but Steele would be a starter for multiple teams in this league.

Being a serviceable starter at RT does not equal being paid like a top 25 OT (both LT & RT) in the league.
$18.1M for a league average RT on a roster full of holes just isn’t good cap management

I would sort of agree, and am all for upgrading the position dont get me wrong, but its more about what you would save rather than what he makes. What do you save by cutting him....I think around $12.5M or so in cap space and I'm not sure if the Cowboys would save anything in real money or not with his guarantees?

You also have to keep in mind that $18.1M might be league average, but how much of that is suppressed due to rookie contracts? We probably need to take an average of starting Tackles not on rookie deals to get actual idea a reasonable starting point of what his market value truly is. I dont feel like doing the math on that but Jonah Williams got $15M per year last offseason coming off a horrible season, injuries throughout his career and is similar age to Steele. IMO hes the comp I look at to what Steele is probably worth on the open market. Steeles $16.5M AAV really shouldn't be a huge issue if hes viewed as a starter, especially considering there are a few guys about to get paid this offseason that should bump up that $18.1M average.

the best move would be to move Guyton to right and dump steele, but Steele is still under contract and we know how jones hates to let players go before the end of their contracts.

but if there is a Tyron Smith type player at 12...then great, take him and don't look back

I like Richards and think he has some potential, but "awesome"? "plug him in at LT"? Let's not get carried away just yet...

Move Smith to LT and have Bass and others fight for the LG spot. This way you can justify extending Smith and also solidify the most important position on the OL.

I hate to say all the talk about OLine changes is just that.......our 2025 starters IMO
Guyton, Smith, Beebe, ???, Steele
Imagine a new coach and maybe even MM telling Jerry that Steele needs to go, Tyler needs to move to LT ( forget he's an ALL-PRO LG) and you also playing Guyton in the wrong position. He's an RT so you blew this one draft day. After all that, you now need a new LG AND RG.

In other words....you blowing up the entire Oline and expect Jerry to give you the key to fix it ........ :lmao2:

ITs more than likely you see pretty much the same line up going into camp. RG is the only place I see real competition. Bass and Hoffman competing for it which is fine. Now Guyton will have to step up his game at LT or I can see Richards starting there.
