Is our Talent overated now?

It is a serious question.

There was a lot of talk last week that our talent was overated and I am of the opinion that if we play to our talent level we can play with anybody.

Our defense, while not dominant has shut down offenses that no one else in the NFL has shut down. Ex - Green Bay, Philly, New Orleans and even held SD in check compared to others.

What was the difference this week?

Same talent - different level of focus IMO!

Some of them are still over-rated, yes.

Some of them are still under-rated by some as well.

I think we've been playing well lately, despite losing 2 of 3. I continue to say our worst enemy is ourselves. Penalties, and lack of execution.

However, I think it is a mistake to judge our win against the saints and think we are great. NO got spanked by Washington, and last week they struggled mightily against Atlanta. And Atlanta was missing their qb, rb, both corners, and their best tackle.

NO has not been playing well lately.

In a parity league, emotion plays such a big role.

How many times have you heard analysts talk about how the Saints had the pressure of the undefeated season on them? Every team you face wants to be the one to knock you off. Same with the defending champs.

The Cowboys have to deal with that in almost every single game. Our opponents are up for us, because we are such a high-profile team. It's tough for our players to match that level of intensity every single week. We see how they can play when they are able to.

But I don't doubt their talent at all.

amen.

We have very good talent but very VERY obviously not so great that they do not have to play very well to beat the league's top teams. I DO think the team has played hard and was focused the last few weeks, but they did play better this week against a very good team who was not remotely at the top of their game. It works both ways folks.

The talent on this team is good enough that it can get on a run and cause some real damage in the playoffs. Or it could make the playoffs, play close to peak level and still lose in round one to a team (Eagles or Arizona) that just happened to be doing the same thing that day.

I think we have some quality players at some key position and like most clubs some areas that could use a bit of an upgrade.
