Is Rob Ryan Getting Too Cocky?

Part of me wonders if Rob is getting a little too arrogant. Although, I'm not even sure I would call it arrogant. Maybe "dismissive" is the better word.

These last two weeks have been atrocious at times.

At times, these last two weeks have been Wade-esque. Cannot get off the field to save their life. Today they were hurt when Ware recorded a sack but a penalty was called for illegal contact, contact that I seen in nearly every game. Fasano was not disrupted from his route, he didn't even really look as though he felt the contact at all. Furthermore, I thought the DB could hold his ground to a certain extent and be just fine if the offensive player came to him with the contact. I'd have too look again but I thought it was a poor, poor call.

But when you look back at the QBs he's faced in Fitz, Brady and Stafford and you see a defense that was getting off the field (Generally speaking, yes Brady drove the field and scored but that's more him than it is any sort of flaw in the defense. That's his legend. Against the Lions, I think the team was completely deflated after the two INTs because they were handing Detroit it's *** before that), a defense that was getting it done and a defense that didn't just concede chunks of yards or let WRs run as free as a streaker in a soccer game.

I wonder if Rob is starting to give the opposition so little credit that he basically dares the opposing QBs to beat him because he honestly doesn't think that they can. Is it possible that he doesn't feel the need to take a few risks because the QB's track record says that he will screw up first?

I dunno. I'm just looking for something right now that might give me hope that Ryan get better results. The WRs running free as can be is concerning. These aren't even dominant WRs. Most are JAGs. Take Marshall out of the mix and you might not have a guy who would start on another roster.

I just cannot believe that the defense has gone from containing much better QBs to letting bottom-feeders feast on them at will.

You have come to your own conclusion, and you have convinced yourself that that conclusion is accurate regardless of reality.

We aren't getting the same production from our linebacker corps, we were down 2 starters in the secondary... I mean sometimes these things make a difference. We let up 19 points, essentially down 3 starters (Lee isn't anywhere close to 100%), 2 of which are in the secondary...

I agree it is very concerning. Also I'm not seeing much "chaos" before the snap like he was supposedly famous for doing. I can't recall the last time there was a ton of movement presnap to confuse the offense...unless you consider ware flipping sides on the d-line from time to time, which I don't.

Maybe Sensabaugh and Jenkins are that good, that they can shut down the passing game. Their absence has sure been noticeable. My gripe is the lack of a pass rush that allows the QB unfettered time to throw to the JAG receivers. When I see Spencer and Ware playing DB, then I know there is no pass rush. When Lee is rushing the QB, then I know the tight end is going to be open.

I think Ryan is a lot of bravado, and once he is exposed, he's easy to attack.

I could not believe that he kept blitzing, blitzing and blitzing. It was not working and Moore was only able to complete short yardage passes when we didnt blitz. My favorite was the 3rd and 13 man to man coverage. Totally ridiculous and that is on Ryan.

When was the last time you saw Sean Lee get a pass deflection? He was one of our best coverage guys. We have a big hole there right now, let alone missing half the secondary...

They gave up 19pts with the o givin the ball back twice. The o 1st td was cause of the d. The did nothing til the 4th qt. The d is fine

I love his playcalling. I hate that he's having to do it out there with this secondary.

Players have to execute.

Yes, he's had some holes in his play-calling but I can't blame him for Terance Newman; I can't blame him for Ball refusing to turn his head around, et cetera.

the thing is you can't take marshall out of the mix. it doesn't work that way. it affects the way you defend the rest of 'em.

I don't blame him for not thinking Rex Grossman and Matt Moore won't beat him.

I was sold on Ryan before.

Right now I have buyers remorse.

Maybe he needs time to get HIS guys on the team. Maybe he needs a full off season and a few breaks with the injuries, but honestly, I expected more from him with regards to discipline ad detail.

Wade had a rough year last year and he is a solid DC....

We need better players......

here comes the skelton/kolb/bartel three headed monster... mufasa huuuuuu

Yep, I Agree

His defense is done and he knows it. I think he apologized to Garrett at the end of the game because he knows there's nothing they can do on defense anymore.

I just don't think he trusts the players to run his scheme to its full capabilities. It was my fear before - these players were too dumb to understand Wade's vanilla scheme. Now they're expected to learn an even more difficult scheme? It's like going from PEMDAS to Calculus

We're gonna get gashed every game now...just gotta live with it.

What is the difference in his cockiness level now than when he first arrived and people loved it, or when we win huge and people love it?

He's gotten worse after 2 close wins? Or we've gotten over sensitive?

I don't think Ryan understood what it means to coach the Dallas Cowboys. Aside from division rivalries there is no other team that other teams want to beat as bad as the Cowboys. for many teams this is their regular season SB. I don't think it's coincidence or that we are that bad that even bad qb's play lights out against us.

Can't say for sure, but I think I saw the same thing at the end of the game too.
