really just a ploy to get his deal signed..?

Or is an excuse to miss training camp and OTAs?

I realize it was stated he attended some meetings last week.

But I think his delay is going to impact his return to play on purpose.

Are we being tooled around and if so..

is this really the kind of leader we really want to be paying all this cap to?

Suppose the surgery gets complications and he starts missing games?

Has anybody heard anything on exactly what is the injury and what is the projected recovery time?

I am losing confidence in this guy.

Now he says he will not play under a $20 mil tag.

Is this guy for real?

Do we want another head case on the DL after Gregory and Irvin and Hardy?

This drama is getting old fast.

He needs to accept his tag, get his surgery and play for his next deal in 2020.

or if he screws it up..deal with his fate.

Not stick it to us and get a bunch of guaranteed money and then skate.

Frankly, I was completely disappointed in his play against the Rams in the Divisional game.

Here is guy who wants to be paid like a Top 10 guy in the league..

and he completely dissappeared and was a non-factor.

He had no sacks and like 2 tackles..really?

Lavon Bell and AB or OBJ he ain't.

I am curious what you guys are thinking.?

We can’t really shop him around without the surgery right? Assuming that’s what he’s doing.

I hate that he hasn't signed yet, but he is well aware if he isn't a Dallas Cowboy we are screwed on the D-line.

He and his agent know what they are doing, especially since we can't trade him until he signs his tender, he has all the leverage.

I just hope this is him wanting too much and not Stephen expecting a hometown discount from our guys or we are screwed with a bunch of future FA's.

why? Whats the positive?
For Lawrence?

He has this is supreme leverage.

The longer he holds this off, the more the Cowboys (should) be motivated to make the deal happen.

The Cowboys would be incredibily dumb to string this to July and then have Lawrence sign.

it cuts both ways as far as dumb goes. This is bad optics.

I think his agent advised him to use this injury to get the fan base on his side. If he's played with this for 2 yrs, i dont think its that serious. This leads me to believe its a slight tear that just needs a clean up. A total tear is a 6 to 8 week healing process. A slight tear is less than that.

Mine is an unpopular opinion, but I hope we trade him to get into the first round (I know he has to sign first). Dude wants more than he's worth and only produced for half of the season. And if he really does have an injury that hampered his productivity, well, then he has injury concerns. If we can get good value in return, see ya!

The ONLY angle I can think of is that by delaying the surgery, he can sign the franchise tag, miss half the season recovering from surgery and still get paid.

Not sure of the details, but if he is healthy and just decides to hold out, he doesnt get paid.

Anyone want to clarify that?

Imagine a scenario where his shoulder surgery goes bad, like Peyton. Or it gets infected, like Alex Smith. Suddenly he can’t lift his arm above his clavicle, even after it heals. He signs the 1 year deal, then has a rotten season, and the cowboy tell him to piss off. Maybe someone gives him a chance on a 1 year prove it deal, but otherwise he’s basically screwed.

Getting the surgery while unsigned or on a 1 year deal is potentially catastrophic, this is the right tactic.
