Is TE still a major need?

Jarwin and Schultz seem to be playing well lately. Well enough to hold off on investing valuable resources on the position?

Yeah. I'll definitely still be looking to upgrade. Which shouldn't be very difficult.

I want a stud in there that can uncover the middle of the field that we have thus far avoided

Not if you’re okay with having avg/below avg TEs.

I think I might be, if that means we can invest those resources elsewhere.

I think it would be a luxury. They’re young and improving. But , if you have a chance at a top talent you take him.

I agree. I wouldn't rule it out and would stick to our draftboard, if a TE makes sense. But I don't think we need to go out of our way to make sure we land one.

Our TE by committee approach has essentially been no worse than Jason Witten last year. Witten had 63 catches for 560 yds (8.9 ypc) and 5 TD in 2017. Our TE committee has 51 catches for 498 yds (9.8 ypc) and 1 TD. I think the only area we miss Witten is in the red zone. I think our current group has done ok in the last few weeks of moving the chains. They definitely don't scare anybody, so if an upgrade is available then you've got to give it consideration. Just don't think TE is the top priority this off season.

I don't think it is a great need at this point. They are playing better than I was expecting, and getting better every week.

I'd say it's dropped down from being locked in as our first pick in the second round of the draft. Jarwin and Schultz have come on as of late, and that makes the position donewhat less of a must have than it looked before. Their continued emergence might allow the team to go best player available like they should.

I think Jarwin could be something, certainly a receiving TE.

I know he said it a few weeks ago, but the TE production has been much improved since them. I think Jarwin has 7 catches each of the last two weeks.
Do not know.

Just saying what he expressed.

Now is he being truthful?

I think so.

Depends on who is available in FA.

Problem is the team values blocking to help their All Pro line who it seems does not function well if there is not somebody wham blocking guys.

Pass catching is secondary.

This is why we have a gaggle of blocking TEs.

To block.

Jarwin reminds me of a smaller, more childish version of Gronkowski.

I actually said that this would be the case before the season that they would be competitive in receptions and have a higher ypc. Didn't think that we would get the tds and that has proven true.

Having said that, it didn't look good through the first half of the year....they have certainly looked much better here lately.

its still a need, although given recent play of the TEs its not do or die or desperation. I said it in another post, that the TEs are good enough to have to be accounted for, but not game planned against. and when they are given the opportunity they have made plays.
