Is the Dream Team the Worst in the NFC East?

Normally, I don't like employing this type of logic, but since it's what we have in this relatively new season, why not? Commanders beat the Giants in week 1 in pretty convincing fashion. Giants beat Eagles in week 3 in pretty convincing fashion...in Philly. We beat the Commanders in week 3. Using this logic, we are the best in the division because we beat the team that beat the Giants who beat the Eagles.

Three of these teams are 2-1, one is 1-2. In their two losses, the Eagles' Dream Team Defense has given up 29 and 35 points. They have already seen their starting (and only) QB get beaten silly. Oh, and their next three games?

San Fransisco
at Buffalo
at Washington

Under normal circumstances, I think Philly would match up well with San Fran. San Fran's secondary is mediocre and the Philly receivers would probably feast on them all day. And even their overrated secondary could probably handle San Fran's anemic passing attack. But what if Vick doesn't play? If not, they will be exposed to San Fran's ferocious front seven on D, which I think is far better than most are willing to give them credit for. Long story short, but I could see Philly pulling a "2010 Cowboys" -- all the hype leading up to the season, and find themselves staring at a 1-5 record heading into their bye week.

That would be funny to me.

Well, that's the great thing about divisional rivals. They're going to get a chance to prove it in three weeks. I think Washington wins that game. And if you happened to take a look at the Zone's Pick 'Em standings, you would realize that I know what I'm talking about. :laugh2:

All teams being completely healthy, i think that the eagles are the 2nd best team in the NFC east.

If Michael Vick can stay in for a little over a handful of games then they should be atleast in position for a wildcard.

Then you're not paying attention. Michael Vick has played in ALL three games for the Eagles and they are still 1-2, losing a divisional game at home. They have been the healthiest of all the NFC East teams up to this point, FAR healthier than either the Cowboys or Giants. The only game which they won, against the Rams, Vick had less than a 45% completion rate.

Someone better remind them that they're supposed to be the best team in the NFC this year, and quickly, because I think they are teetering on the edge right now and are precariously close to digging themselves a hole they won't be able to get out of.

I see some foolish decisions having been made for a team seemingly in 'go for broke' mode.

Why make your offensive line coach your defensive coordinator?

Not only does it mess up your defense, but it results in you completely re-tooling your offensive line.

Why go three deep at cornerback while having little to nothing at linebacker?

It seems that the entire league picked up on that blunder and now simply exposes the weakness.

And should a 'go for broke' team shuffle 4/5ths of its' starting offensive line?

It's funny that JJT said Dallas was 'rebuilding' by making so many changes on their offensive line and yet the Eagles were a Super Bowl contender?

The injuries to Vick that many of us had predicted are in fact coming to pass, but fortunately for the Eagles, they have not yet been the type to cost him weeks of the season.

The Eagles are still a talented roster, but much like the Cowboys teams of recent memory, talent does not always equal success.

Next year Juan Castillo will be gone as the defensive coordinator and will be replaced by Steve Spagnuolo.

I know its early. I have seen this before, so I will never count them out unless they reach 8 losses. Consider this though:

1. all 3 starting linebackers switched their positions for this last game. I have never heard of such a thing
2. thier 27 year old first round offensive guard cannot sniff the starting lineup at this point
3. the can't miss long haired Matthews brother is a major liability for them
4. 2 of the 3 talented corners excel in man coverage, yet the Eagles are playing a zone defense
5. vick is getting hammered, crying about it and its only a matter of time before he misses significant playing time. He is listed at 6 foot 215 pounds

Compared to Romo and other players on this team, Vick looks like the biggest limp-wristed sissy in the game. Out with a bruised non throwing hand? Are you serious?

1A) Giants....hate their guts but they've been there and done that

1B) Cowboys...I'm biased

2) Eagles...talented but can't win the big one...

Well they should've beaten Atlanta which would've made them 2-1. If Vick's in the game he can make all sorts of crazy stuff happen and make 15-20 point deficits disappear like nothing.

Eagles to me have always been the Phoenix Suns of the NFL, can run up and down the field at blazing speed and beat most teams but they're weak upfront and in the middle so that hurts them against tough teams later in the year.

However looking at their schedule they should be able to do enough to win 9 or 10 games and either win the division or be in position for a wild card spot.

I dont think they are anywhere near what they are pumped up to be as a team.


Vick is not as good as people believe or want to believe.


He is a superfreak athlete and a average QB at best.

I think with their O-Line troubles, and their difficulty stopping the run, they're not going to be in for the cake walk so many thought. The Giants already proved they can beat them and I do believe that Dallas and the Commanders have the players, and coaches, to put together gameplans that can beat them.

The key is executing those plans, like the Giants did, and getting the job done.

Hitting Vick, early and often, is the key to messing up their offense. You can get Vick rattled way easier, IMO, than you can a QB whose considered to be an elite player, like Vick is, and he's proven that this week (once again cause he did it last year as well) with his whining about not getting the calls he feels he should.

The Eagles are a flawed team. However, they're strong in some areas that can devestate any team on a given day. Their speed at the skill positions and their pass rush is dynamic enough to overcome their significant flaws. They're still dangerous IMO and will improve.

Giants will always be in the mix because of their run game and ability to rush the passer.

The Skins appear to be a solid team - definitely better than last year.

The Boys will go as far as their OLine takes them. Everything else is in place assuming we get healthy.

I think we're all in the mix here. As i predicted before the season, i think the divsion winner will finish with only 2 more wins than the worst team. It's going down to the final 2-3 weeks.

It's too early to really know anything about any of the teams in the division. I honestly couldn't come up with a ranking of the division with any confidence right now. If we're healthy, I'm certainly more comfortable putting my faith in Dallas at the top, but I still need to see more from the offense.

The Eagles should still contend this season, though it's nice to see the hype blow-up for another team like it did for us last year. I remember after the FA signings Sportscenter had Darren Woodson looking at the Eagles schedule and I think he only picked 3 or 4 losses all season. They don't look like that kind of team right now.
