Is the Kicker Position important?

The team with a better kicker has a significant edge. If last season did not teach people that nothing will.

The 90's teams were so dominant it did not matter. You will NEVER see that again in the days of FA and the Cap. So its worthless to talk about them or think that it has any application on todays NFL.

In the NFL of today when the talent margin especially in the playoffs is small, a top kicker can win it all for you.

Viniteri for the colts and the Pats had how many SB winning kicks? You trying to say that meant nothing?
I agree. But at the same time great kickers missed big kicks. As I've pointed out. It doesn't matter what kicker you have, they can miss in big moments. But I will agree that it is important to have a decent kicker.

I thought it would go well with your point on the importance of kickers. We all remember how impactful it was when Maher started missing everything toward the end of last season…..we’ve got to make kicking a strength again so it’s either FA or draft
Regarding Maher..even more important was Jerry's little pep talk before the Niners game. Nobody talked about that..i support the Joneses, but that video makes me cringe.

why? did he miss any xps or fgs in that game..? encouraging a player is not a cringe worthy moment, what is is berating platers and coaches from seat in your LR Or Online etc and calling for their careers or jobs thinking they aren't human. he was down, shaken and if the owner of HIS TEAM, the GM of his TEAM want to go out and give the player a little encouragement and try and motivate some confidence,. exactly whats wrong with that, rather have him berated and fired on the spot, im sure you are wonderful at party's and a boss /malmanagement of that how you feel.

TBH Maher was bright spot the entrie RS and had bad game..it dodmnt cost us and there were far worse Kickers in the league than a 90% kicker who only missed like 4 kicks all from over 55.

This is a really weird stat. I was thinking the same thing but when you actually look at the list it seems like they exclude QBs from contention. I guess you can only assign points to a single player, but why does the WR get every bit of the credit?

Agree though. Kickers are hugely important. Maher's fall from grace was unprecedented. I really don't even want him to go to camp. Can't trust him on an extra point any more than I would trust a random poster from this board.
Yeah, I wouldn't trust Maher at this point. I feel bad for him, but the team's interests come first. I remember the same thing happened to Vanderjagt. When he was with the Colts, he was one of the best in the league. We got him after a total meltdown. He was missing basic kicks, and even extra points.
