I had Plantar Fasciitis back in 2003. The pain was unbearable. My right foot didnt respond well to stretching and medical treatment, so I underwent surgery. The physician basically cuts the Plantar Fascia muscle in half. It then grows back longer, so there's no swelling. Think of a fully stretched-out rubber band that swells because it's stretched too far. I was out of commission on crutches for about 2 months. Aside from your achillies and acl tears, this is one of the worst injuries a CB or WR could incur right before the start of the season. I wouldn't be surprised it this is one of those nagging injuries T-New has throughout the season until he can properly have it taken care of in the offseason.

You all need to calm down. Many people on variety of forums have posted about their own experiences with this kind of injury. Most have reported a little rest is needed but with proper treatment (which you better believe Newman will get) he will be just fine and fully able to do his job. The fact that Newman is able to move around and not on crutches or anything like that indicates to the trainers that it is a "mild" form of planter fascia. For goodness sake, certainly don't believe anything you hear from Gints fans, etc. The Cowboys have their own medical staff/trainers who know the situation. So again just calm down.

My Grandma's mailman's third cousin's boyfriend's daughter's stepbrother died from it so it's sooper dooper serious. Then I heard from some guy at a gas station that they were going to have to amputate Newman just below the neck and I also read somewhere that he was stabbed in the neck with scissors on his way to church.


Seriously, people need to chill. I'll bet by this time next year 85% of the fans forget that Newman even had this. The only way Newman misses a defensive snap against the Giants is if it's a blowout and he's with a few other starters yucking it up on the sidelines. Heck, if the Texans game mattered at all he wouldn't miss a snap.

i don't think he's hurt that bad. i think wade just doesn't wanna risk newman in preseason. i heard T.O. probally won't play against houston and i doubt he will in the 4th preseason game.

I have it too, but didn't require surgery. It still flares up every now and again but basically being on it too hard for too long causes a ton of pain. Him missing TIME in 5-8 games wouldn't surprise me.

But since they aren't, and preseason game No. 4 doesn't count either next Thursday, the Cowboys have decided no sense allowing their top corner to possibly aggravate his strained heel. Evidently he has developed a mild case of plantar fasciitis, which is the straining of the tissue in the heel and instep. Rest is the best cure."

I was VERY relieved to read this, hopefully it relieves others as well.
