When you start to study up on Christian Parker's possible scheme, the nickel corner position is one of the most important positions. Slot is asked to do it all: cover, play against the run, blitz etc.

People tend to forget DeJean was drafted as a safety prospect, where Parker converted him into a slot corner and hasn't looked back. Many believe Cooper is one of the best at that position in the entire league after just 2 seasons in the league. We saw over the weekend, Seattle using their safety Emmanwori as their big nickel with great success. Clearly Downs would be an ideal fit to play this role, but is there are other prospects to consider filling this important role?

A white boy who can play cb? I doubt it. Thats a CMC type unicorn.

I kid, im a white boy. Im not wrong though. Lol

I dont know about the other prospects but Downs is at the top of my wish list. Seeing these mocks where he goes a pick or two in front of us would be rough.

Not easy to find, that kid is going to be a great player in the league for a long time I think. That body slam tackle he made last year in the open field on Derrick Henry was a thing of beauty.

Yea his name is Caleb Downs.

One of my favorite nickel prospects is Rivers from Duke. He screams JLew vibes. Aveion Terrell.

It would be nice to have a 2nd / 3rd to go after a nickel / slot CB.

Could one of those safeties we like in rd 2 play that big nickel?

Terrell, Ponds, RIvers, Stukes, Scott are all possible nickel fits.

Scott and Stukes are the two that have some size and similar weight to DeJean.
Think good size is necessary as they will be playing a lot of light boxes and this player needs to be a factor against the run.

LB Eric Gentry, USC... 6'5, 225 could play big nickel. He is a really intriguing player. I don't know how teams will use him in the NFL; good player though.

The Sea kid is a freak show...I would not be trying to replicate that.

I think it would be easier to find a JLew type player.

Kilgore is probably the best after Downs if you want a S that can play in the slot

DeJean played CB pretty much exclusively at Iowa. There were some people that though he could be an NFL S, but most had him as a CB

If you draft a CB in the 1st, ideally he can follow #1 WR's in the slot. McCoy, Delane and Hood all have the skill set to do that. I dont know if Parker intends on doing that, but I have always favored that approach.
