Is there a worst case scenario this year?

Each year, people like to play the "worst scenario" game with mock drafts, with the idea that there are a handful of players that we really want, but all of them hypothetically gone by the time we pick (which is kind of what happened last year). With the depth of talent in the first round, seems to me like we'll be in line to pick up a high quality player at a position of need regardless of how the chips fall.

So, in your mind, is there a worst case scenario with the first round?

There is no worst case scenario. This team has more holes than Dunkin Donuts. The draft is deep and they just need to draft their board.

The worst case scenario to me would be to trade back and end up with a marginal player in the first.. Not saying trading back is bad no matter what but things need to fall a certain way to make it worth while

IMO, worst case scenario is Manziel falling to around #12 or so and Jones giving up our first and 3rd to get him....waste of a resource, waste of a pick

You have a way with words. Ya, I think you are right as long as we pick DT, DT, DE, DE, OG, LB, RB/FB, S. No TE, WR, CB, C, P, QB, and K. Could use another talented GM.

I second this.

Worst case scenario is QB, WR, and TEs drop due to crazy depth in the draft at these positions. Edit: And we can't trade down.

Even though it's not ideal, this team could make use of a top-flight receiver. Remember when the team passed on LeSean McCoy because they "needed" a crappy LB and OL.

Worst case scenario would be trading up. We have too many holes and this draft is too deep to lose any picks

Keep in mind last year's worst case scenario (both guards Cooper and Warmack were gone and there was a run on OL) happened and the Cowboys came out smelling like a rose by getting C Frederick and WR Williams.

This draft is deep. So, the only really, really bad scenario is WR Sammy Watkins falling to the Giants or some other really good player falling into their lap.

You hit it on the head......Even Manziel falling to 16....I would jump off the top of my house head first if Jerry is dumb enough to pull that trigger. This would top the epic meltdowns of Greg Ellis>Randy Moss, the 2009 draft, and the 1995 draft where Jerry lost his mind and traded down 20 times and ended up w/ nothing.

The worst case scenario is all of our targets worthy of the #16 pick being off the board AND us not be able to find a partner to trade back.

Yep, worst case scenario is jerry and stephen get involved AT ALL.........
leave it to mcclay and ciskowski

is if the Cowboys drafted a player that's a bust......

The Manziel pick .....well, if he becomes a franchise QB in a few year then it's a great pick....but then if it isn't.....
