Is there any realistic scenario where you'd consider drafting Lacy?

Let's say we trade back significantly... Would you consider Lacy if he fell to late first/early second?

If he fell to your second round pick or lower sure.

And I don't mean by trading out of the first to get to the second round because if we traded down It would probably still be higher than our second round pick and I think there would be players of better value or close enough in value to get at other positions of higher need.

So...Not with our first pick.

I love Lacy, but we have bigger fish to fry with the first round pick. Our run blocking is so bad that another running back isn't going to fix that.

If he was sitting there at 47, however, I'd run to the podium myself.

What if we landed a high second, such as San Fran's 34th pick? Would you consider him there?

Never draft a guy with a girl's (first or last) name! Rosie Grier would be the only exception.:D

Imho I'd rather not. We don't need stud rbs behind a poor line, we need a good line to make average running backs give you 4+ a carry consistently, and doesn't cause guys to have to make cuts most of the time before they hit the intended hole. Hopefully the zone blocking scheme will help with that.

If we have similar rated players on either line, safety, corner, wr, lb.

I dont think they are looking that hard at Lacy. Saw a tweet within the last few days which I have not been able to find again, where Gary Brown said they were looking more at a Franklin/Ellington type back as a change of pace from Murray FWIW.

NO

Wait and see. There will be 2-3 RBs taken in the 3rd round or later that will end up better than Lacy.
I like him ok, but not that early.

I agree. Recent history suggestst that good RB value can be found anywhere between the late 2nd-3rd rounds.

No way I take any RB before round 3. I'd prefer a RB in round 5-6.

Yeah even if he fell to our second I don't think I would like that pick.

I'm really concerned that he has not run a 40 yet. That scares me a bit.

Not unless he works out. He hasn't run a forty or recorded agility numbers. At this point, we don't really know much about him, as far as he compares to athletic ability of other RBs in this draft. It's a dicey proposition because he has a very limited body of work to base judgement off of and he plays behind a dominating OL. It's hard to know how good he really is.
