well..I actually think the original poster has a point...special teams did not seem to be such a talking point in the offseason.... but we were horrible against the Giants and horrible against the Chargers (and it was pre-season for the Chargers too).

Jerry must have a lot of faith in BR to keep him after last season.

Since Bruce Reed has coached this ST it has been god awful.
If this problem doesn't get addressed this will be the achilles heel of this team

The starting defense and offense looked good out there but the 2nd stingers were put in bad positions by the terrible ST

I think you honestly believe you can just wave your magic wand and you would have this team fixed in no time flat.

God, it is a preseason game..... I don't know what they pay the coaches and their years of experience for when they could just hire you....

jeesh, get over it already. Next post I want something positive, and remember preseason games mean absolutely nothing when it comes to how well a team will do in the regular season.

Ware and how great he is. there are a lot of good things going on with the Cowboys.but Bruce Reid and his special teams is not one of them.there are a lot of positives going on. i just want the problems fixed before the real games start.

You guys seem to forget that one of the reasons we left Joe go was because in last 2+ years his ST hadn't been special either. I believe our STs were great in the Jimmy Johnson era was simply that Jimmy believed starters should also play ST if they could contribute.

I'm not sure that any NFL now would use their starters on ST and that's probably cause most starters earn way too much money to risk them. I sure don't want any of our offensive starters to play ST; same goes for defense although I could be convinced differently about that--I guess.

Weak kickoff/punt coverage was a problem last season as well.

Things haven't improved (so far). If things don't improve by the 3rd game, I say we bring in Zampese!

As a side note, I'm betting several of those guys that were on special teams last night aren't going to be the guys on special teams once the season starts.

I'm no big fan of Read, but you're exactly right-- last night was about trying some scrubs out, giving them a chance to make some plays and thus possibly make the team...

So what you saw, basically, was some guys who made the first round of cuts easier...
