Is there anyone who doesn't think the season is over if Dallas loses today?

Anything can happen I suppose. I remember thinking the Cowboys had no shot in 1998 but somehow fell into the Playoffs that year. Unfortunately, the NFC records don't look as bad in 2005. If the Cowboys lose, that's 3 losses in a row, not the type of confidence a team needs that has to finish 3-0. If the Cowboys lose today, I think they finish 2-2 at best and 9-7 for the season. That's too risky for a league in which the good teams are separated from the stinker teams this year by a wide win margin. It may not be enough for the Playoffs and a red hot Minnesota team, a Tampa Bay roster that is one win away from 9-7, and an always threatening ATL squad.

ITd basically be a long shot.

....But the NFC south ahs a lot of ganess within it, so we couldhope for he pahters to take cre of biness abnd sweep atl/tb and make a 9-7 tie breaker a posssibility

I really hope that we win today and I think we will be if we lose 2 out of the next three, I think we are out of it.

The playoffs are still a real possibility for us. If the Giants lose to the Foreskins and Egirls, we would have to win three of the next four to tie the division. Minnesota's defense should fail them in the coming weeks and I think the Bucs Oline will do the same, giving our guys a shot to step up and improve on the shatty last two games.

If we lose today the season is over. Simply put, this is as big a game against as big a team (playoff caliber) that we will see besides Carolina the rest of the year. I'm not sure this team can overcome 3 straight loses and with the next 2 on the road it's all but over.

If we finished 10-6, that's be good enough, presumably, to get into the playoffs. So we'd need to win the last 3.

A loss would be devastating, but not necessarily lights out.

Hell, we will win today and we then will spin this win to also win our division. I see the Giants going 2-2 and us going atleast 3-1 and maybe recieving a first round bye. Come on people, its time to get the confidence back and it starts here with the fans before the game.

I've twice seen a Drew-led team start 3-6 and they finished 7-0 in one year (94) to make the playoffs, and they went 6-0 last year before losing on (yes) another missed kick. Drew is 13-6 in his last 19 games, with all 6 losses by an average of 4 points.

I agree with the sick freak.

That said, if we have a 3 game losing streak to deal with I'm going to be ill.

Huh? That '98 team all but had the division wrapped up with 2 cake home games left. They weren't great-injuries started to cripple the team, but they also had the luxury of having lowly Philly and Wash at home to close out the season.

Yes-today's game IS make or break. No-record wise, there's still a long way to go. HOWEVER-a loss today will only be a confidence killer, going into hostile FedEx and Carolina. A win, OTOH, we get our confidence back, and I think we'll win in either FedEx or Carolina.

It would be like a college team ranked high but not high enough.

Your destiny would be taken out of your hands and you would therefore need help to get to the "tournament".

I wouldn't give up hope yet if they lose today. Personally, I'd rather have wins over Carolina, Washington, and St. Louis than a win over KC and 2 wins in the last 3.

By winning the last three games, that puts Dallas at a 10-6 record, 4-2 in the division and 7-3 in the conference and most likely a lock for the playoffs.

Good point-I'd trade that Chargers game we stole for that Skins game we blew ANY day-otherwise, our tie-breaker favorability would be sitting pretty now.

Anyhow-with this being late in the season-we can't afford to fool around anymore. The cat's ninth life has already been used up. We lose today-we have a 3 game losing streak, and we go into hostile environments the next 2 weeks with a low confidence level.

It would be like that Saints game last year. Still alive after a loss, but not really.

nope, with Minny on a roll and not that likely to lose again....they have a good track for a WC. Tampa is now in the race too. Even Wash has a legit shot. If Wash wins and we lose today...I think the best we can reasonably hope for is to beat Wash and end their hopes so neither of us go to the playoffs. We definitely have the toughest remaining schedule.
Frankly, if i don't see something, some life, some new wrinkle, some change, or something this week, my hope is fading fast. And really, if there isn't some new renovation, would there be any point of going to the playoffs anyway? Our offense has been completely inept and incapable of blocking anyone, we can't run the ball, and we have to hope the defense scores points for us....
such has been the case the last few games so there better be a new and improved offensive gameplan this week or there's no use in sneaking into the playoffs anyway.
