Is there much of a difference between LG and RG?

Erik "Big Cat" Williams? Never heard that one. I've always heard Leon "Big Cat" Lett. Anyhow, Larry Allen is a guard and Williams was a tackle.

As for right and left tackles. Usually the better tackle goes on the left because most QBs are right handed and it allows the best pass rusher to rush the QBs blind side.

It also matters as you have to reverse your technique. Try signing your name with your opposite hand. You will see what I mean.

Leon "Big Cat" Lett and Rayfield "Big Cat" Wright.

Those are the two "Big Cat" Cowboys that I can remember. There may be more, though.

Does anyone know how we performed statistically running:
1) up the middle (between the guards)
2) to the right/left (between guard/tackle)
3) to the right/left (outside the tackles)

We were mediocre running up the middle (27th) and excellent at runs at the tackle. And average on runs outside the tackle (mainly because we were pretty good running to the outside left and horrible running to the outside right = average).

I suspect that with Marion likely to carry more of the load and no Julius we'll be much better on runs up the gut.

Houck was always great at building rushing lines so I expect ours to be much better at run blocking.

To clarify the original question, Leonard Davis could easily make the switch to left guard, and for anyone with even a little bit of ability, it's no big deal at all.

If you doubt that, consider the fact that Davis played left tackle in Arizona before we moved him to RG...moving back to the other stance on the left side would be easy enough, but Kozier was already playing LG for us, so why move two guys.

Another thought...why do we want to team Davis with Adams? Are we operating under the assumption that Flozell is a better run blocker than Colombo? If so, I'm not so sure that's true, though Flo is clearly the better pass blocker.

Personally, I prefer building a strong line across the front and spreading your probowlers out a little so a defense can't scheme to stop the run to one side and make you a weak running team.
