This is not a hate thread or intended to bring up a QB debate this is looking at a situation i see developing from an objective point of view and wondering what everyone feels about it or see's the same thing.

I also just want to just add I personally hate the Romo/Dak debate ( i also realize this is a huge story and it is not going anywhere ) and i have really stayed out of and off this topic because I love both of them and i struggle with this decision.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is what i'm wondering:

1) The knock on Romo from the outside world and some cowboy fans is he chokes, never wins in the playoffs, and cannot win the big one.

Now having said that: we could argue

1) He played without a O-line for most of his career ( look at Eli playing in the same Situation )
2) The Boys have never put a defense around him ( Lots of average Qb's won with a great defense)
3) Lots of stats don't match the perception ( Best 4th quarter Passer rating and tons of comebacks )

BUT

Here is why i ask is this a no win situation for Romo ?:

With the emergence of Dak a few different scenarios may unfold:

1) Romo remains hurt Dak leads this team to playoffs where one of the following happen

a- Boys are eliminated in first game
b- Boys win a game
c- Boys go to NFC Championship
d- Boys goes to superbowl who knows!

But if c & d happens even if we lose - Romo Loses

2) Romo comes back at some point this season replaces a hot Dak or a Dak that loses a game or 2.
Anything less getting to the super bowl would mean Romo loses. I mean could you imagine if Romo takes the record Dak and Co. made and gets eliminated in first game of playoffs. Romo would be crucified.

3) Romo takes this team to the Superbowl and gets the win. Will Romo not get the full credit towards his legacy since Dak put them in position by holding this team together while Romo recovered. I would like to think Romo would get full credit since the playoffs put you against the leagues best but based on the way outsiders and some here judge him i think they may argue he didn't play the full season.

Now looking at 3 i don't think Romo would care a superbowl is a superbowl and this is a teams sport. I just wonder would that mean he is a lock for the HOF or would they not give him the credit for the superbowl win.

I don't think there is another QB in the league that deserves a Super Bowl ring more than Tony Romo. I really want him to win a ring for him personally, for the fans, the franchise, and to secure his legacy. This may be in fact the team to do it, although i still think we need one more draft to boost the D a little more. I just really am starting to feel looking at all the scenarios that may play out, Tony Romo may be left in a no win situation as far as his remaining time with the Boys and his legacy. That is a shame for what he has meant to this franchise. I don't want to see him in the same group with Marino and others who have not won a super bowl. I would love to see Tony go out like John Elway win it this year in a surprise and next year. Then walk off into the sunset a legend while Dak takes over for the next 10-15 years putting us in great position to become a dynasty again.

Thoughts?

I am hopeful that, if/when, the opportunity presents itself - Romo will be able to remain focused on the job-at-hand - that of winning and propelling his team to the fullest of it's capabilities. Based on everything my eyes have seen over the last decade - I'm fully confident he would do so if such opportunity arose. In and of himself, Romo will not be distracted by the chirping of the fandom or media-created controversies. And Romo will not go pleading some weepy case to teammates or the press. He will merely deliver his utmost until the point he is no longer PHYSICALLY capable of doing so.

Just my 2-cents.

Honestly I think Tony's very best shot is 4 Dak to fall apart or have some type of nagging injury in the last game or two of the season.

The part about Tony choking and all that nonsense is all in the past the only questions around Tony now is how far have the skills and abilities faded over the last season and a half and can he stay healthy
I know word out of practice is Tony's throwing missiles and blah blah blah but it's different when you can't plant your feet and there are bodies flying all around. sometimes the brain just doesn't decipher information like it did when you were in your late twenties and early thirties, in other words they just don't see the bad guys as easy as that used to Common problem with quarterbacks at the end of their career.

In the event dak finishes out the season with a win in the playoffs or a close loss it's his team from that point forward and Tony's best bet is to try and catch on with a quarterback starved team.

We have to let go of what's "SUPPOSED TO BE" or what someone "DESERVES"... repeat after me.."ACCEPT ALL".. as it pertains to the team and in life period. Where the pain and frustration sets in is simply not accepting reality, dealing with it and moving forward. This is not about a legacy and what was "supposed" to happen or who the team was "designed" for. Fate and reality don't work on that schedule. Keep the train moving and deal with circumstances as they present themselves.

Romo had a LOT of chances over his career. Most players never get the chances he had. He should be thankful.

I truly think part of him would be thrilled watching Dak take us all the way this year. He would get a ring and is very much part of this team.

He would be thrilled right up until the point that a defensive coordinator pulls his pants down on national TV, just like every other rookie who has made the playoffs in the history of the NFL.

I think we can both agree that Dak is NOT your typical Rookie. I think we have a great chance.

I don't think any "typical" rookies have been in line to start playoff games. And it's nothing against Dak, he is going to give it his all. But he's not going to make it 3 or 4 games without getting exposed. They got Dan Marino, they got Big Ben, more recently they got Andy Luck and RGIII. And they will get Dak. At some point they get you because you just can't have seen it all yet as a rookie.
