I've been thinking about the Dez release and it reminds me a lot of when Demarco left in Free Agency. We tried to let some "others" fill in and step up and it backfired horribly.

I'm wondering if we are doing the same thing again here?

if it's true hopefully, we can end up with a "Zeke" in the draft next year.

Murray got overpaid to play badly in 2015. McFadden walked in off the streets and finished 4th in the league in rushing (despite Romo and Dez’s injuries leaving the passing game in the trash, so the run was all defenses had to worry about).

We should be so lucky if our passing game is as good as our rushing game was in 2015, and if one of our new receivers finishes 4th in the league in receiving.

This team is all about the run, controlling the clock, and not making the big mistake...

Sorry this isnt the Romo lead offense that will be slinging the rock jacking up the scoreboard

No dez and no Witten will make a better passing game. They will redo everything and Dak will not be trying to run stuff like romo. It will be a fresh start

When we let Murray walk we didn't expect to be starting Weeden and Cassel at QB. The running back by committee might have worked out but for the fact that we had a person with emotional issues taking the big chunk of the committee's workload and we had scrubs playing QB. Not to mention that Dez got injured and that's probably the point where he lost a lot of his ability to dominate one on one matchups - after he missed I don't even remember how many weeks.

I honestly don't see a lot of similarities here. Murray broke the team's season rushing record before he left, Dez was not having nearly that type of positive impact.

It very well could be but I see a lot of reasons why its not. IMO, Joseph Randle wasn't a terrible back. His off the field issues hurt him. These receivers don't see to have that problem.

Not only that but Demarco came off a CAREER year. Dez is coming off a career low...and I'm a Dez fan.....but all guys have to do is literally suit up and run good routes and it will already be a upgrade. In regards to Witten........I think we have plenty of guys who can run 4 yard routes on 3rd and 5.

When murray left he had a great year and wanted to much money. He got paid.

Dez got cut because he had a mid to low year and was going to get paid way more than his worth. He won’t get over paid going somewhere else.

If Dez had a great year last year he would be happily paid.

Not even remotely close to the same thing.

Not at all like that.

First of all, Murray was coming off a season where he led the NFL in rushing - by a large margin - and Dez is coming off a season where was 28th in the NFL receiving. In truth, Dez hasn't had a top season since 2014.

In addition, we have WR's still on the roster that have had at least one season in the last 3 seasons that were as good or better than any season Dez has had the last 3 years, plus the burden of the receptions and yardage from the WR position can be spread among several players all on the field at the same time, whereas at RB it's almost all on one player on the field at a time.

Obviously it remains to be seen how it plays out on the field, but Murray was at the top of his game and leading the NFL when he left, and Dez just isn't that level, and hasn't been the last 3 seasons.

Yeah. Also: Murray’s replacement wasn’t even a problem (much less THE problem) in 2015.

If Dez’s replacement finishes ranked as highly in receiving yards as Murray’s replacement did in 2015 (he finished 4th in the league in rushing), this entire board will climax so hard, we’ll all drown in our own fluids.

But, yeah, let’s rewrite history and act like a repeat of the Murray situation would doom our upcoming season. When in actuality: we would love if that’s how it played out.

This team is usually overly optimistic ("we like what have at RB") and the takes about a year to admit they were wrong (drafts Zeke 4th overall).

That being said, let me introduce you to our 2019 1st round draft pick:

The highlight music is rap but I didn't hear any explicit lyrics. If at work, turn off sound to be safe.

The imagery you used was a bit disturbing, but I think you and I are on the same page...just don't stack any pages on top of it, as they might stick together...

On a talent level that is a possibility but I don't think it will happen the same way. For one, when DB (no, that doesn't stand for douchebag) was out our offense stayed as productive or was more so. Let's face it, the morale killing, drive killing drops were gone. No more was Dak forcing balls to Dez to help prevent his petulant child antics on the sidelines and in meetings. Also, DB (I will no longer call him by his name because of his selfish desire to hurt my team) Has not had the numbers for a number of years while DeMarco Murray was coming off a stellar year.

Look, all this biching and moaning and "woe is me" crap about DB leaving has to end. I didn't want to see him leave personally and was not happy UNTIL I found out about his dissent in team meetings. He was hurting the team / team unity at that point and was beyond stoopid for doing it. He operates on emotion and not brains ... *** him ... he was a cancer and it has been excised. TEAM is the most important thing in team sports ... not talent !!!!

We'll be fine IMO.

Demarco was an offensive player of the year coming off a!12-4 season. We tried to replace him with zero draft picks, an aging veteran and a trade for a headcase player

While not entirely on him, Dez wasn’t very good last season and one of the worse non-QB games I have witnessed was him with the season on the line against Seattle. We are trying to replace Dez with two draft picks, a mid range free agent and another free agent.

No disrespect to the OP but lazy comparasion.

Demarco chose to leave and chase the big payday, Dez left because he chose to not put forth the effort to save his job.

We will probably never know for sure, and I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think if Demarco had it to do over again it would be different.

When bitter players leave and go to a rival team to "get back" at their former team it rarely works out according to plan......it didn't workout for Demarco, and Dez isn't getting his front door beat down.

I don’t think drafting Zeke was admitting they were wrong with letting Murray go.

They didn’t choose not to retain Murray because they didn’t like the player or didn’t value the position...they chose to let him walk because they didn’t want to give a second contract to a running back.

3 years later, Demarco doesn’t have a NFL job. They made the right decision not giving him a huge extension.

I don’t think so.

Demarco was heavily used. Dez wasn’t.

I personally think we have wayyyyy to many eggs in the Zeke basket.
