Is this possible.

Is there a chance that Parcells might not even name the #2 QB this year. Sounds strange but I am thinkin there is a small chance of this and here is why.

If Bledsoe gets injured yeah BP will be sending in Romo no question about that.

BUT...what if we have a huge lead in a game and BP wants to pull Bledsoe so there is no chance of a dumb injury. He might want to put Henson in to get him some drives to help move him along faster.

JMO but I think if BP can play a QB in some clean up time it would not surprise me if he wanted to go with Henson.

I can't remember the last time we could put a QB in for clean up duty.. That sure would be nice.

And I also think it is very possible that no #2 is officially named. I think that spot will flip-flop as the season goes on.

Every game you have to have two active QBs and one as the emergency QB. So it would be easy to see who the #2 is going to be.

The key is "officially named" as you noted in your post.

I have no doubts that he will have his 1,2,3 list but may not, for whatever reason, want to tell the press who ask him every day.

I believe you carry the number two on the active game day roster. But the emergency QB gets to dress out but does not count against the 45 man roster. Is that correct?

That's right. If he comes in before the 4th quarter your other 2 QBs can't come back in the game. If he plays in the 4th, your other QBs can play then as well. I think the 4th quarter rule is there to prevent situations where a non-Qb has to play emergency QB. I believe this rule came about after there was a monday night game where the Commanders had to have a RB play QB -- made for awful TV.

Hensonites - Gotta let go - Romo won the job.

Its time to prepare Bledsoe and Romo to play. Henson develops at #3.

So basically, they have to name a #2 guy.

Yup, I reckon we prolly just never name a #2.

Might happen?

NOT

I can't envision BP not officially naming a #2 QB. Further, I don't think the role is going to go back a forth during the season. If it changes at all, it will only happen once, assuming there are no injuries. It looks to me like Romo owns that spot this year.

I don't think it will change at all and that's okay by me because if Henson reaches a certain level of playing time, he can void years off of his contract. I would just as soon keep him under that trigger level and be able to keep his contract in force. I have high hopes for the guy, and I wouldn't want to have to negotiate a new contract in a couple of years if he comes on next year and just absolutely tears it up.

Now if Bledsoe suffers and injury that sidelines him for several games and Romo stinks up the joint, then we might see Henson.
