I read thread after thread after thread on here about how Jerry was just giving lip service and blowing smoke when he said Garrett had "final say" over his staff.

Alot of posters said, "I will believe it when I see it".

Garrettt has now fired Ray Sherman for reasons unknown at this time. Maybe it was a professional issue, maybe it was a personal issue, nobody knows. However, all reports are that the Cowboys informed Coach Sherman that his contract would not be renewed, thus he will no longer be with this organization.

So is this proof enough for everybody that Jerry was telling the truth and Garrett is not just a puppett? I think this shows that Garrett has the balls to make his own decisions, even if those decisions are not popular.

Sherman wasn't fired. His contract was up.

He was informed by the team his contract was not going to be renewed.

Bottom line....Garrett told him to hit the road, call it whatever you want.

That is still different from a firing. You don't know what happened. I doubt they interviewed someone for head coach that they didn't even want on the staff. I think he probably asked not to be renewed because he has reached his top potential here; no room for advancement since Garrett will call the plays

here is what I THINK....Ray Sherman has been an offensive coordinator before. He probably sees himself as MUCH more than a position coach...and he realizes that is all he will ever be in Dallas. Garrett wants to call his own plays and he does not need a divisive voice when "ceartin players do not get the ball" or when plays he calls does not work. He needs coaches who tell the players to shut up and listen to the head coach. And removing Sherman removes the threat of that

...or, Sherman pushed issue of becoming at least an Offensive Coordinator and that wasn't directions at present in Dallas. He made a choice and then Dallas made a choice on his contract considerations. It could also indicated team developing directions on approach on the offensive side as well...

If Sherman's contract wasn't set to expire, then I could believe Garrett was pulling the trigger on this, but that's just not the case.
Sherman has a ton of coaching experience and a great reputation with players. He can get a job almost anywhere and probably wants to be more than a position coach anyway....who could blame him?

In a statement provided to Josina Anderson of Showtime's "Inside the NFL"...

"My contract with the Dallas Cowboys is expiring at the end of the season. I appreciate the opportunity that the Cowboys have given me. I was able to coach a great group of receivers who now have a tremendous foundation, giving them the ability to continue to excel for years to come in the NFL."

Sherman has since confirmed that the statement is accurate.

Other coaches contracts set to expire in a few days are..

John Garrett
Chris Boniol
Wade Wilson
