Is this team bigger than Wade?

As I sit back and see one of the best teams assemble in the NFL.

I wonder if Wade is the right coach for the job. I think he is.. I hope he is.

Only time will tell.

The bottom line, Wade sees his future right in front of him. Make the playoffs and win right up to the SB or look for new employment next season.

I think his personality, along with Jerry locking up everyone who performs well makes for a great atmosphere. I think a ton of guys will take Pacman under their wings, so he should be ok.

Barring major injury, this team is set to make a serious run

Wade Phillips is one of the top 10 defensive minds of the past 20 years. He has taken defense after defense and produced top unit after top unit. This is probably the most talented squad he has ever seen rivaling some of the Orange Crush defenses featuring Steve Atwater, Karl Mecklenbugh, and Tom Jackson.

Now that Jacques Reeves who was our weakest link is being replaced with Pacman Jones and Mike Jenkins and the rest of the players having a year under their belt I have no doubt this years defense will be the likes of nothing we have seen since the 90s glory years.

All you have to do is look and see what his defenses did in his second seasons in Denver, Atlanta, Buffalo, and San Diego to see that.

Our defense could hardly be placed in better hands.

As for the offense, that is Jason Garrett's show. now Wade makes the call as to whether or not to go for it on 4th and short or other strategic calls but Garrett makes all the tactical decisions.

Actually from top to bottom there is some serious coaching talent on this staff. Other than Read all of the coaches are good and other like Sherman, Garrett, Campo, Grantham, Houck, and Jurazsek are some of the top assistants for their respective positions.

This is one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL.

I think we can win in spite of Wad.

But we saw his magic last year when he made the guys sign stupid contracts that didnt work, and celebrated in season wins. He is poison.

His merits as DC dont apply to HC.

This is just asinine. Winning 13 games in teh NFL is an accomplishment to be proud of. No cowboys coach has done that since Jimmy johnson.

if that is poison then i will take it every time.

I will ignore your childish rants.

What do you win for going 13-3? We did not reach any of our goals. Falling short of your goals is not success unless your changing the position of the goal posts. Do you believe tying GB for the 2nd best record was some sort of accomplishment? I am thinking the goal was SB run, play off win, etc. Not 13-3. Slight of hand. Forget the monumental failure look over here! LOL. Pass.

Ignore the facts all you like. Wad is a play off loser until further notice (Sorry to be harsh, just words). Why do you think so many people are talking about the need for leadership? Cause there was none last year. It starts at the top IMO!

If we win it will be in spite of Wad as his 40 years of coaching history will dictate. And that is my opinion.....

Last year was also Wade's first year as HC of the Dallas Cowboys; just like it was Jason Garrett's first year as an OC & Romo's first year as a starter. Wade should finally realize the expectations he must satisfy if he wants keep the job he wants most in the NFL. Garrett & Romo both learned a lot yesterday & the learning curve will continue this year but both hard workers/very smart guys. If it's within their power, they'll get the job done on the offensive side of the ball. Also believe Hudson Houck siging was big deal if he can get/keep our OL in top physical/mental condition late in the season/playoffs & also significantly improve our run blocking while improving the pass blocking as well. Also liked hearing Romo talk about improving certain mechanics so he doesn't need move around in the pocket so much (likened it to Brady's "standing tall in the pocket") which apparently will also help his OL. The Red Haired Genius & Romo will get it done. BTW: I liked Spag's comments in his show yesterday, particular where he mentions everybody should totally discount the tabloid media. Went on to ask rhetorically whether anybody could believe that a football nerd guy like Garrett would allow his QB to essentially run wild & not work hard. Answer is obviously a very loud no; besides it very obvious in that interview that Romo is devoted to improving his play & helping rest of the offense do the same.

I dont think Wade is the right man for the job... but I digress. I support the guy but his "ho hum good ole boy" way is not right for this team.

This team is soft.

There is no real anger when they lose. Its a bad day at the office... and thats it.

If we win it.... it will be because Jason ran the offense and Wade molded and ran the defense in one way, shape or form.

We won the SB in spite of Switzer... we have to hope that can happen again with Wade.

I think Wade did a great job of bringing these players together as a team. Yes the end was disappointing as it has been even before Wade got here. He has been with Dallas for 1 season the best season we have had in years. Right now it is almost as if some are putting Dallas late season downfall all on Wade back.

This team had BP and we folded late in the season and he was a very hardnose coach. This team may lose focus at time but they are not soft.

Bill was hardnosed but held them back... in gameplan, failure to adjust and not let the team get loose. He was "out of touch" with today's NFL.

Wade is easy going and just lets them do what they want. We actually need a Haley-type(maybe Taylor is that guy) that will get angry and intimidate others just by a look or by making a scene in locker room. We have alot of white collar players... we need more blue collar players/attitudes.

We need something in the middle of what Bill was and Wade is currently.

I think Wade is doing great and has been able to do what some others have not and that is have TO fully on board. I think Wade has brought this team togther with a family atmosphere and has gone out of his way to include former Cowboys and inviting them to workouts.

I think the players do play for him and as a HC that is what you are trying to do is get 53 men moving in the same direction and playing hard for you and they do that.

Players themselfs need to be able to dig down and provide extra they are the ones on the field playing not the coaches that is why these players are making a lot more than the coaches.

I think our coaching Staff has these players moving in the right direction and Wade is a big part of that.

Funny though Wade has been here 1 year and has done more than many coaches have done in 1 season, if that is soft I'll take that every day of the week

I hear ya and agree to some degree.

Lets not kid ourselves.... Wade may not see the New Stadium as HC... you and I both know that.

We were a few bad plays from going 10-6 last year. We won Buff and Lions game when we shouldnt and very easily could have lost one or both Giants games.... in the playoffs IT FINALLY happened.

Sorry Doom.... things are not all that they seem or what we think they are....
I like Wade... but if he leads team to playoffs again and we lose... he will go down as a HC that couldnt win in post season.

It's not? How do you figure?

How can one say with a straight face that this isnt one of the better coaching staffs in the league? Especially now that most of Parcells croanies are gone

You say we were a few bad plays from 10-6 hell we were a couple of plays from moving on in the playoffs. You talked about a guy like Haley? he was a player not a coach the coach did not make Haley into who he was that was just Haley. I think it is important to have guys like that but coaches do not manufactor those guys or the additude they play with.

I love Garrett but no one know what type of HC he will be, who is to say he can do the job as a HC and if not do we continue to change systems and HC like many consistent losing teams in the NFL who never stick with anything? It seems to me that Dallas past failures are being dumped on Wade

Wade in 1 season has done a damn good job and for any fans to be riding him is rediculas no one in their right mind fires coaches after 1 season and a season that brought about 13-3 and yes Wade was a big part of this team making it to 13-3 and I think this team will only improve and why not we have only had this staff for 1 season!!!
