Is this the first time in history 3 HOFers on one oline?

different positions have different conditions for HoF perception. Take kicker for
Instance; you’re probably not even getting a mentioned, regardless of what you do in your career, if you don’t make it at least 14 seasons in today’s NFL. They’re revered by. combination of success and career scoring. That tenure would be an insane predisposition for many other positions.

RB, on the other hand, is the opposite. The modern cliff RB’s fall off of is the age of 30, like clockwork. Emmitt and AP are the very, very rare exceptions. Because Terrell retired at 29 instead of getting that last Cardinals-esque payday so he could underperform into his 30’s makes him less of a HoF candidate? Conversely, nearly every Oline member was a fantastic player into their 30’s. Compile that with the lack of popular Oline statistics beyond pro bowl accumulations and All-Pros, it is a nigh-impossible position to prove worth in a partial career. The only one I can think of in the last half century is Tony Boselli, who’s induction came as a result of one of the most expansive campaigns we’ve ever seen.

Was that a knock on Emmitt Smith?

Davis' underperformed at age 27, 28 and 29. He had a great run to start his career. There is no doubt about that. In my opinion, a HoF caliber running back not only has impact, but also as longevity. Davis had one and not the other. There are other guys who had longevity, but no real impact. Guys like Payton, Smith and Sanders had both. The best of the best.

No, the opposite. AP and Smith are strong into their 30’s, which almost never happens to RBs. Kind of a knock on everyone else I supposed. You can’t really expect that level of longevity when evaluating who deserves a hall nod.

I think there’s more to a HoF case than just impact vs longevity. Impact in stats, anyway, Davis almost certainly got in because he was the central catalyst on multiple SB championship teams. The fact that Elway couldn’t win any without him extrapolated that point.

I recall hearing for many years that the reason why Wright wasn't in the HoF(before eventually getting in of course) was that he wasn't even the best lineman on his team and Neely was better. This was from those who voted for the players to be inducted. My question at those times was then why isn't Neely in the HoF?
exactly.
and many if not all of the all-60s team are in...except ralph neely.
makes no sense.

ON the O-line?

Peters is not a starter, the Cowboys have realized very little benefit from HOF play. The fact that there will be three HOFers that help make up the O-line squad this season, is a mere technicality and has very little meaning otherwise.

What has far more meaning is the fact that, in Super Bowl 6, both starting receivers and the starting TE for the Cowboys were all HOFers, Bob Hayes, Lance Alworth, and Mike Ditka.

The quarterback, Roger Staubach was a HOFer

The RT, Wright, was a HOFer.

A DT, Bob Lilly, was a HOFer

Both starting CB's, Adderly and Renfro, were HOFers.

One of the safeties, Cliff Harris, was a HOFer.

The HC, Tom Landry, was a HOFer

The GM, Tex Schram, was a HOFer.

None of them showed up for a one season cameo appearance.

Darren Hambrick jersey for whoever provides the answer.
What do Hall of Fame mean?

Sorry, had to do it. Darren Hambrick will live in Cowboys history for one stupid quote.

Three HOFers in one oline room - Smith, Martin and Peters. Anybody know if this has occurred in NFL history? I have a Darren Hambrick jersey for whoever provides the answer.
Their NFL career resume`s thus far project Jason Peters, Tyron Smith, and Zach Martin to each having a wonderful extended weekend one summer in Canton, Ohio.
But until it happens...your title thread still is presumptuous.

You overlooked the thread title...
'....3 HOFers on one OLINE?'

No.

I was responding to someone who said that the career of Travis Fredrick was too short to make the HOF and I was drawing a parallel to Terrell Davis. Davis played 7 years, but only 4 good years before the knee injury and three after, where he was NOT the same. So Davis made the HOF with only 4 good years.
Fredbeard also played 7 years, but he had 5 before the diagnosis, then one season out for the injury and that somewhat mediocre final season where he was NOT the same player.

Please do not try to tell me what I did or did not do, especially when neither reading comprehension nor understanding of a conversation appears to be your strong suit.
