some dark horses out there, to be sure. overall, it's likely a norv hc, garrett, oc, rivera, dc scenario but hey - jones has surprised people before. he also likes to be trendy and get the flashy name. is that rivera? dunno. the only real flashy name left the building and now cowher is the "sexy one" (that hurts to say).

hopefully we'll know soon if jerry has reverted, stayed the same, or gotten smarter on things. while norv is kinda like taking your sister to the prom because all the good ones were taken, maybe a couple of your sisters friends are hot and will come along so it's not a total loss.

then again it's kinda sad to have to use your sister to get dates, but i digress.

anyway - been fun speculatin, now lets see what jones will do.

I wonder if Cowboys fans are willing to entertain the thought that Rivera MAY NOT WISH to become the defensive coordinator? Perhaps he is deadset in becoming a head coach--and that neither loads of money nor 'slick willie' Jones tactics or persuasion will make him settle for anything less. It is a possibility.

I hope that he gets his shot. He has the coaching experience. He has the (youthful) drive. He has the temperament. I have yet to see him not command the respect of the players that he coaches.

Why not Rivera for head coach? Sometimes, a brand new approach towards solving a problem is a GOOD thing (even if Jones has already installed a supporting staff for his new coach).

i'm all for the youth movement. if jones will only enter it hedging his bets with norv or wade for a few years but we know who's really "the one" maybe it will be ok.

garrett to date is the only hire and that was almost a given from long ago - bring him back home. he's not jumped around and hired anyone else yet until he gets his guy for HC, then we'll see the rest fall into place in likely a few days time.

THEN we'll have an idea of how much whining we'll hear vs. how much support jones will get. : )

I'm certain that Jones would be the first to say that, as long as we buy his merchandise and stay loyal to his team, he could care less about how much support we throw his way. In every decision-making instance, good, so-so or just plain bad, Jones has always made decisions which he has claimed to be sound and logical. To himself personally, that is. His newest choice for head coach will be no different.

Oh, I don't think it is the best choice by far.

I think Wade would do wonders for our defense and Garrett and Sporano would do well with the offense. Wade could bring in good DC.

Singletary and Rivera would be better than Norv and Rivera IMO too.

I think both of those are better than Norv at HC

i think a lot of it comes from personal viewpoint and what bases you're trying to cover from where we are to where we want to go. if garrett is going to be our OC, then norv wouldn't be more than a babysitter for a few years till garrett kicked him out. this helps defense none.

if we go old tutor route, i'd rather see phillips for a few years to help work on the D. then again, if we get rivera, we don't need much help and jones would wanna baby garrett w/norv.

A is the most likely scenario, unfortunately. i'd still love to see singletary in here somewhere.
