Is two years enough time to develop a QB to be our starter?

I agree with that.

But you just saw how Jerry got roasted in here every day for spending a 4th on Lance.
He was rightfully roasted because he spent a pick on a proven BUST.

31 NFL GMs all knew that if Shanahan "The QB Guru" gave up on Lance , that it was unworthy of a 4th......but 1 GM thought differently.

Care to guess which one?

Please stay on topic
His response has as much bearing on the Cowboys as your original post. Dak is the Cowboys quarterback for the foreseeable future. Is it prudent to use an early draft pick on a QB coming out of college? Or would it be better used on adding talent to other position groups?

Looking at over the cap if you go to cut Dak post June 1st, we actually save 40 million in 2026, by that time if we're smart enough to draft a decent QB to take over this team, is it enough time to get him ready?

Well duh COOG it all depends on the coaching around him, and how much he wants to be the new starter. I get that, but will this team value looking for a good replacement, or will they sell us with the next 4th round stud or UDFA that will be the next great thing! Please give your thoughts
Yes, if they were developed in College.

All depends on the QB. Some are ready immediately, some take a year or 3.

It depends on what the new QB is stepping into. Is it a situation like Brock Purdy and San Francisco or is it Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville?

I thought when Jax lit up the Cowboys a few yrs ago when K Joseph single handed brought Jax back from a 27-10 deficit that Lawrence had weapons on that club .

Mike White was a Cowboy 5th round pick who had a decent preseason and was cut . He goes to the Jets and I want to say it was a future Bengal SB team with Cheeto Owuzie , White went to town threw for 450 yards and a bad Jets team beat Cincy .

A QB absolutely should be drafted and challenge Prescott he’s way too comfortable .

Yes it’s enough time.

I mean I would just cut Dak as soon as possible and draft a QB as high as possible. And let them go.

If you’re drafting a QB high. The most time I need them to sit and learn is a season anyway and then it’s time to play and see what you got. If not start as a rookie.

If we are talking about drafting a mid round or late round pick and develop them? Honestly it’s not even worth discussing because the odds of them doing anything anyway is low. So if you drafted one it’s just as a flier or to be a possible backup for a while anyway.

It wouldn’t be a realistic strategy for finding the next franchise QB anyway.
