Is Tyrone Crawford More Effective At Left End Than Defensive Tackle?

DT, DE it doesn't matter.
Tyron Crawford has produced nothing for us. He is paid like a guy who should have helped solidify our DL.

Let's take off the homer hat for a minute.
If Crawford was traded to a team like the panthers, Seahawks, Broncos, ect would he even be good enough to be the starter at any spot on the DL? If no then it's a bad contract for a player that failed to live up to expectations.

Ask yourselves this...if his contract was up after this season would you want Jerry to give him the contract he gave him again?

The answer is obvious.

This is our reality it's not a homer hat. We live with this and I pull with that reality.
PMing about it does what?

It's nice to see a fan who can actually admit that. Refreshing, in fact. Especially compared to the scrambling the 'Spin Doctors' are trying to pull right now.

Kudos!

Yep. They like Crawford. They like his motor, and the pressure he gets. And they like Collins, apparently. This move was about getting their best four on the field for week three, and our fans, predictably, get it wrong so they can complain about it.

This is correct IMO, a attempt to get their best 4 on the field, they obviously have more pieces at DT currently then the do at DE. To get your best 4 on the field you have to move Tyrone because of that.

I think the contract is irrelevant at this point, there is absolutely no question he has not lived to the contract he signed. But as of right now he is one of the top 4 DL we have.

That might be sad in it's own right, but that is where we are, so I think it is a wise move to get your 4 best players on the field.

I agree that he is one of our 4 best DL and it's a good move to get him on the field.
He does show flashes and he can make some plays for us no doubt. However the concern is that he may not be the top 2 at DT and I don't think many people would say he will be a premier edge rusher ever. So where does he fit? A DTwho is too fragile to be a DT and probably too slow to be an edge rusher.

Im not interested in excuses based on injuries. Based on injuries and his comments he doesn't ever want to go inside and get roughed up by the guards anymore. So unless he can transform himself to a 4-3 DE he probably doesn't have a great future with us. Honestly he would probably be a better fit for a 3-4 DE.

Could be a problem down the road unless he show us he can give us something at DE.

I can't imagine thinking it could be anything other than that, honestly.

Hopefully Crawford will do better once the DEs start pulling their weight. Like Byron Maxwell, Crawford ain't that great unless he's got solid players around him.

Just because you say it, it doesn't make it so. He was paid to be the Warren Sapp of this defense and not only hasn't he been that, he's now been moved out of the position.

What I say is just an opinion like yours and many others. I will try and look at the All 22 but until then he enjoys a solid reputation from more than a few people who do it for a living.

And not to blow my own horn but if I say something about a player it generally trends that way even if I begin swimming upstream around here.

He's getting paid like a decent RDE. The salary issue makes it more complicated. This situation is annoying.

Tyrone Crawford is basically the new Brandon Carr. He's a solid player who was overpaid and will probably never live up to the contract. That's obviously going to frustrate fans, but it doesn't mean he can't produce and contribute.

Sure, it was a bad contract and there's a chance he won't see the end of it. But he's a guy who can play multiple positions along the line well enough to win you games, and that's all that matters to the coaching staff.

I think you need to elaborate on that claim. I don't know of anyone giving him a "solid reputation", especially given his bloated contract.

Sure reads like that's what you're doing. Blowing your own horn.

I think he's a tad bit better than solid but solid is my label for him now until he plays better.....if and when. He has the talent. It takes a while to get back to normal if ever after a shoulder.

As for the first you can do your own reading if you don't like my answer and form your own opinion.

As for the latter I'm adding credibility to my statement. Go back over the years and see my opinions contrary to most of the not homers re: Gurode, Kosier, Free, and others. Most here said they sucked and I said they were solid at worst players (at the time). If you want to call that blowing my own horn then so be it. I don't see it as particularly saying a lot considering I've been watching pro ball since 58 and played semi pro ball. While I might be a very small minority here it's not like the rest of the league doesn't have the same opinion as many of you much of the time. I only appear to be out on a limb to those you you who talk much and don't appear to watch much in an objective manner.

Just saying.

So, a baseless, unsupported claim, got it.

You shouldn't use the term "objective" while you're tripping over yourself and making unsupported claims about a player not living up to his contract.

Just saying.

I'm not hear to defend a thesis. You would so benefit from researching your position as well as mine. While I often do give stats I don't feel compelled to back up anything I say here esp to PROVE my position to you. I put my opinion out there. You disprove it. Emoticons = don't got crap so ad hominem attack.

Tyrone hasn't lived up to his contract but most here chalk that up to injury rather than just be negative about the player. You're great at trolling but low and slow on rational debate Stash. Still love you dude!

I've got a newslflash for you, since you obviously don't know. It's not my job to support your baseless claims. You could tell us all the sky is green and it would carry just as little weight. You made a statement, and refused to support it. That's on you.

Don't talk about anyone else's "debate" skills when you're the guy making completely unsubstantiated claims and then getting wadded up when someone called you on it. And for the record, I'm not "trolling" you or anybody else.

What's the latest "injury excuse" for Crawford? He got a mulligan for disappointing last year due to the shoulder. What's the excuse for this year? I'm not sure when it became out of bounds to be critical of a player and hold them accountable, especially based on what they're being paid.

Like you, I'm hoping that a move to LDE results in better production, but it's not off base to be critical of what we've seen from him thus far.
