Is Weeden going to be demoted to 3rd string?

I just can't understand how he remains the backup when Romo had to come back and play against a 1-8 so that the Cowboys could stay on pace to win the NFC East. Not only does he come back from a injury but he played a perfect game today leading the cowboys to a 7-3 record. So if there was no confidence in Weeden to play well against the Jags then shouldn't one of these things be happening?

Demoted to 3rd string QB?

Released from the team?

Weeden already confirmed we can't depend on him to be a 1-8 team so he should be CUT instantly or demoted. Agree?

If Weeden is cover your eyes awful what do you think Vaughn is?

The Steelers lost to a 1-8 team today with their starting QB who has been on fire lately. You can't take any team for granted. You go with your best players and that means you go with Romo no matter who the backup QB is.

It's a shame he had to rush back and play a awful Jags team instead of getting extra rest so he could be healthy for the Giants and eagles

And it was oh sooooo sweet! Shut these prick Steelers fans up for a week. I could have sworn they were Super Bowl bound after beating the Ravens. Lol

Bledsoe was garbage and it took a while for this team to play Romo. It also took awhile for Romo to move up the chain, despite how much better he was in practice than the other QBs. Vaughn can be better than Weeden, being the 3rd stringer.

Im sure its just because he has more experience. Id be ok with next year using vaughn as the backup. We all know romo goes down were screwed anyway. We need to get a permanent backup man/ new starter going asap. I love romo always have and hes tough as nails but I dont want or expect him to risk his health the rest of his life much longer.

He's basically an unknown - which is better than sucking. Just like Drew Stanton played for the cardinals - you never know what they will be until you put them into the game.

I think you'll find that most coaches, if given a choice between a veteran QB who sucks and a player who is pretty much a complete unknown, will choose the devil they know every time.

Judging from the way the Cowboys were so reluctant to insert Weeden into that game vs. the Jags, there's no doubt about how scant their confidence level is in him. I would imagine the only reason Dustin Vaughn hasn't supplanted him as our #2 QB is because of his overwhelming lack of experience. Next year, it may change, assuming Vaughn displays encouraging development.

What are you guys talking about - demote Weeden? Didn't you see that masterful final drive of the game with almost 2 minutes left when Romo was out and he prevented the Jags from regaining possession? Not for nothing that they call him the most prepared backup in the NFL.

He won't be cut until the offseason. There is no chance we see Vaughn this year if Weeden stays healthy.

Seriously.

You people watch football, how on earth can anyone think a team is going to cut their backup QB in the middle of an NFL season when the guy behind him is an undrafted rookie from a small school? When does that ever happen?

It doesn't except maybe for a team that is 3-7 not 7-3.
